The M - Chassis TOPIC

Are there any 4WD m-chassis sized cars in production? I've see the Mfx01 but I'm not sure how suitable it would be for on-road conversion (carpet).

Looks the Ta05 M-Four is long out of production...

RC-Express XM-1/ XM-1S and Race OPT MTS M chassis.

Race Opt purchased the suspension part from Top Racing before they went bye bye

So, after @berman 'encouraged' 😉 me to spend more money on hopping up my M-05 Pro even further, I did just that. The parts arrived and I've installed them, at the same time I pulled out the box that had the cards for all of the existing Hop-Up and started my official RC catalogue. Based on my experience today, one car took 2 hours to catalogue, I'll finish my collection by the time I'm about 126 years old. I did discover that I actually had a stabiliser set, not sure why it wasn't installed, so I've ended up with an extra one that I'll sell. I also realised I still need a few Hop-Ups...

Very nice

I reckon you need the titanium wheel axles and blue aluminium top ends for the damper👍

I might have to get the Ti shafts if I can't find the stainless set. Do you (or anyone) know if the front outer Ti shafts (with the ball studs) can also be used in the rear? Front and rear are the same length so it might just be a clearance issue (I wouldn't intend to use the ball stud at the rear, effectively just using it as a low friction shaft). If I can get the stainless set I'll settle for that.

Didn't know those damper tops existed... do they fit the mini M-Chassis alu dampers for sure (they're not the later TRF versions)?

Supply of some of this stuff is a challenge because I can't use my credit card on eBay because they use PayPal to process payments and I've been banned from PayPal (apparently for life) because I moved countries and kept using the same (valid) email with a new (valid) credit card, PayPal rules don't allow that (I now realise). This will (hopefully) be fixed when I get a new credit card number (which isn't blacklisted by PayPal). PITA.

Yes the top ends(49308) fit the M-chassis dampers, picture of some on my 54000 dampers.

I meant the titanium axle that goes through the steering knuckle, I don't have a m05 so can't help with the suspension shafts either! Sorry

😄 it looks amazing though!

In saying that, if you add any more blue it might have been cheaper to take it to an anodizer and just got the whole thing dipped.

That's a remarkable list too, I used to keep all the header cards but then I realised I was holding evidence 🤫 and I don't want to provide any more ammo ☺

I'm considering buying a Lowride Midnight Pumpkin or M car, to fit a Lunchbox body on, anyone have any insight on how much luck I'll have?  Thank you.

A few people have done it, only real issue is the body isn't quite wide enough, so the wheels stick out a bit. Check the showrooms, I'm sure there's some members rides on there for ideas 👍

Decided to post this here to keep the thread alive.

Finally put a body on my M07. Not my first choice, but they were on sale for half price, and easier to get than much of the older tamiya fwd bodies.

Thank you. I bought the yellow paint too, but after looking at the 1:1 orange one (with the black roof option) I was sold. Plus the yellow body can be bought pre painted, and I was too tempted to take the easy way out. 😄

I also got all the others out. The linen cupboard where I store them is getting quite chocker, and there is a small amount of linen still taking up one shelf, as if to say, "This is MY linen cupboard, don't even THINK about moving its contents as your stay here is temporary."

And with the Renault R5 that she doesn't know about, turning up shortly... 😅

(Yes I will paint the minis eventually..)

That is indeed a very nice collection.

And don't worry about not having painted the minis yet. I have 5 M chassis cars (M02L, M06, M07, M08, MF01X) all new built and only the M07 is painted so far

Ahh, gotcha! What part number are the Ti axles? I know of the hardened ones (I have), the aluminium ones (meh), and the aluminium one piece (included wheel hex) ones, not any titanium ones.

I'm rating that, some mica goodness there! I see you have all 3 of the heatsink bars installed, one up on me. I'm not entirely sure it's acceptable that you have 50% more than I do. 😉

More pics before you do please, I've always liked the concept of a clear body with a few decals over a bling chassis. Your Monte Carlo looks ace from afar.

Nice collection!...especially loving the Bug and the Karmann Ghia!

Cheers Kurt

Thanks Kurt! The bug has some wide offset wheels to go on it and I have to make up some upper camber links so I can have that ridiculous mad camber all the kids have these days 😄 Then I am going to weather it some more.

Haha, it takes sooo long to paint, I think the missus was getting annoyed that I was still adding to the Swift on Sunday, so I understand. Plus I want to do a good job of the minis, since the are no longer available. I also have another Alfa body, s3 RX7, another escort, and the R5 when that turns up ☺

The one with the decals is a runner with a runner body that has been stripped with polycarbonate cleaner. It isn't hopped up. The other Monte Carlo (M01 in top left) is pretty much new with a new body etc and nearly all of the M01 hop ups. You can view all these apart from the Suzuki and Beetle on page 3 of this thread. Cheers 🙂

That is a very nice orange color.

Would you mind divulging what color it is?

Mr @berman, if you happen to still be around after the Renault turns up 😉, looking at the clear Mini in particular with the stickers on. Not for myself but it reminds of a TC member on here (who recently sold off his collection) that had an AMG clear body with a couple of accents and stickers sitting on a gold coloured heavily hopped up chassis so you could see it, looked rather good?

Maybe some racing stickers on a clear Mini body with a couple of Blue pinstripes to match a blinged chassis??

😄 She hasn't seen it yet, I've camouflaged it amongst the others...

I have seen a lot of beautiful (mostly Carbon chassis with blue parts) cars on here with unpainted bodies and a few strategically placed decals, and they look remarkable. I don't think the well used Monte Carlo (the one with the decals) is in a condition to really become one of those cars. I am admiring the mint M01 Mini with the majority of the hop ups with the clear unused body, but I promised the previous owner I would paint it.

As posted above by @djmcnz and @Tizer the M05 would probably be the best candidate for a blinged chassis with clear body as it has the most hop ups.

My most recent mini's are two TECH Racing 4WD conversions for the M03/M04. The cool thing is that one of them is custom anodized in purple. It looks amazing! The other one is NIB.

09-B1543-1.jpg

09-B1530-1.jpg

It has been stored in a damp attic or basement I think as both the cars I got from this seller (TECH MY05 and the 4WD M) both have rusty screws and bodyclips. The M is not that bad as you can tell from the pictures, only a few screws need replacing :)

@Tizer Interesting car.. how is that a M03 conversion?  It looks like a completely different chassis?     I guess the question is what is a M03M vs M03..

The purple reminds me of my old HPI Pro2 I had long time ago that I raced stock-class with.

Ha yeah there's not much M03 remaining :D All that's left is the suspension; Arms, knuckles, dampers and axles. But mine also has upgraded dampers and TECH one-piece arms, so there's even less Tamiya on it now. You could just as well use a M04 as donor, or perhaps even a M05/6.

I was admiring it yesterday but it was a fun game trying to decipher what was actually left of a Tamiya M03 😄 I got uprights and hubs, that's it 😄

It is a beautiful chassis though! 😍
