AFAIK the WT-01 has come in RWD and 4WD variants over the years. Combing through the older pages on TC I've seen references to people running it with just the gearbox up front - but the posts don't go in to detail. I was wondering if anyone had experience with that setup. Lots of people debate between the RWD and 4WD pros and cons (handling, speed, torque, etc). Obviously I could just build it up that way and find out, but I thought maybe someone might weigh in before I've made a mess of my kit :D

Thanks in advance.

It works but traction is an issue even with the weight of the front gearbox and motor. It will wheelspin and scrabble for grip of the line, especially on loose surfaces but it does lend it a certain sense of straight line stability.

That's the best I can describe it really. It's something you have to try lol

It wont mess up your kit as the front and rear ends are swappable, so you can try it both ways. If you only have one drive gearbox go rear wheel drive. We had 3 in the basher fleet at one point all RWD. There are SO....many upgrades that help these buggies.

Mine had alloy higher shock towers with piggy back gas shocks, Larger wheels, Brushless power but still of NiMh. went great and drifted on gravel or dust so beautifully. Jumped well and was controllable in the air due to the large tires. I LOVED hitting a BMX track with it.

I think different shocks are the best change. Mine is running pogos and standard towers but I’m planning to change. It’s a bit like a kangaroo 🦘 on speed at the moment. 13t brushless makes it just about the right speed( for me anyway) so a suspension tweak should just about do it

Different shocks and high shock towers  changes the car a lot, mine soaks up the bumps really well, I use 93mm gmade shocks, and run a 3500kv motor with a high speed gear and a 24 tooth pinion, and it helps with jumps, with the high shocktowers and longer shocks the car bottums out instead of bringing stress to the shocks and shocktowers.
