So I used to be crazy with buying new cars, modding them, then getting something else a year or two later. Drove my wife nuts. Now she's cool with me goin all hard-core on my "Little Cars" as she calls them lol. She said its a 1/4 of the cost compared to real cars.

Dont say it twice...

Got divorced two years ago, not really related to RC, but it sure didnt help. :D

I got divorced a year ago, since then my dining room and kitchen are now full of rebuilt, restored and heavily used buggies, radio equipment and batteries. So it certainly helped all the suppliers of spare parts for Egress/Avante2001 buggies for all the parts for our restorations, Tamiya sold two more buggies, Modelsport gained a fortune in orders and Schumacher gained a new customer..... :D

My wife has 7 RCs herself, so it's not an issue in this house.

LOL sounds like a keeper for your case. hopefully she doesnt pull that trick on you later on.

im still single so the only entity to object would be my conscience.

My income is currently allowing my wife to start her own business, as well as paying all the mortgage and living costs.  So provided I don't bankrupt the house and I keep all the books in the green, she has no grounds to complain about the amount of cars I buy

Usually a mistake to invite the question

No expert but ladies often seem happily distracted by expensive footwear that happens to arrive alongside a separate box from Japan ...

My wife has never been a fan of fancy footwear, she’s more of a “practical” boots, clogs , hikers, trainers etc kind of girl .Doesn’t go in for girly shoes that hurt your feet, but it still applies .

I think you've got it good personally. My wife threatens to jump out of a moving car or harm herself in some other over the top way if I even talk about my RC cars! :P

I pointed out to her that she will happily spend ages and ages telling me about the great deals she's got on clothes and yet I never respond in the way she does. "Ah, but my stuff is interesting you see!?" she said......

The funny thing is that women think we need them soooo much that their threats are scary to us whereas we think - ooooh there IS.a way out ;)

sijgle life

cheaper, can speak to/text a woman without facing 100 Qs, can eat/drink what we want, can actually exercise, can live in a house that doesn’t need 5 different rooms for doing “not sleeping”, can stay up late watching **** tv, don’t have to be nice to a mother in law etc etc

we are “modern” men now who can cook and clean and iron and tinder makes the other aspects easier than ordering a dominos (which now has to be a 50/50 one because she doesn’t like what you like but a whole pizza is too big)

hahahahha

Sorry @El Gecko but you probably need to put your hands over your ears.....

I'm about £500 a month better off after the divorce even after paying CSA payments. My wife used to drive like Mikka Hakkinen and wear out brakes, discs, drums, shoes, clutches and just about everything else on our vehicles in about 1/100th the time I did AND she used so much fuel that I was thinking it may be cheaper to just drill my own oil well......... She cost me £5000 in vehicle repairs alone in the last year we were together. I used to have to pay for all the fuel and vehicle repairs.....

Since separating I have only had to pay approx £80 for oil and sundries to do two services...... in the meantime she has had to buy her own car, insure it and pay for its maintenance..... it has been quite an eye opener for her.

As I have always been a good cook I am more than happy to cook for myself and I'm more than capable of cleaning a house. To be brutally honest I'm happier than I've been in years. Eat what I want, cook it myself so it is done properly, from fresh ingredients and with love and TLC rather than just junk food done as quickly as possible with the minimum of effort. I also have far lower bills and rather bizarrely, I have more quality time with the kids.

So I hate to admit it, other than the upset for the poor kids, it has been an eye opening experience for me. I can't believe how much money it was costing me. I was stupid, paying for everything out of my wages while my wife saved all her income.

To put it in perspective of Tamiya - I am now a NIB Egress a month better off...... :o:o (and I'm eating better, having amazing meals, house is cleaner, I have more time for hobbies and more time with my kids and that is on top of doing a high stress long hours job!!! - women seem to think that they are owed a free ride because they are woman, sorry but I'm sick of it)

Hello. I am not a child. It seems you need to find respect for people other than women as well.

Good job focusing only on the money aspect. Apparently I was mistaken. I thought a wife was for better or worse, no matter how much money you think they cost you.

It is mostly worse......

That is only your opinion. You had a bad experience. Let's not disrespect a whole gender on that basis.

I think you are missing some of the humour in the posts :)

also I don’t think these posts are the reason there aren’t more female Middle aged Tamiya enthusiasts

Just like there aren’t an equal % of men to women over on the Michael Kors handbag sites (again that’s a joke)
