It grip rolls on the tarmac unless its wet so the roof edges are battered and scraped now. I've had a few goes at the postal racing tracks too. This is my Lunchie in it's natural racing environment...

Agree, luchies are best on the lawn. Or the body take a beating. I’ll also run mine one snow I can get the right consistency to get traction like yesterday. Sorry for the out of focus. I was also trying to drive it while I took this shot

This one is a shelf queen and I’ve never ran it. Along the way to collecting this one I had three others in various states of damage. The body even though lighter than a stock body still takes a beating.

Seems like you can get every piece for the lunchbox right now except the body!..... what’s up with that? Was it like that before Covid as well? That’s seems like the piece a guy would need the most, like have a spare one on hand all the time if your running it on a regular basis.

Here's mine:

Detroit Diesel Allison!

I haven't seen that company name in YEARS! My dad used to work for them in the 80's.

I love your idea of branding your Lunchie after them. Can I ask what your connection is to them?

Great Lunchbox, by the way :)

I love the sound of a screamin' Detroit. I think mongoose's Lunchie is a play on the old Detroit powered Rolling Thunder full size monster van that inspired the Lunch Box.

Hi :)

Well, our friend @Saito2 is correct. Here's a picture of my inspiration truck. And the build link, in case you're curious about the detail ;)

Just won this and almost finished building. Just got to finish paintwork and decals then add the windows. Possibly look at a lighting kit but want to sort servo centering too and have new suspension to fit (standard is bad)

Thinking about it what upgrades motors did you guys use with a standard battery and the Tamiya 45057 TBLE-02 Brushed and Brushless ESC?

I built mine over x mas and quickly added oil filled adjustable coil over shocks, headlight kit, and a sport tuned mtr.  The TBLE is a good ESC I think, I originally had a dynamite 20T motor for a couple weeks and it ran it just fine but wanted to try the sport tuned as well. Either work and are within 1km/hr of each other. With that mtr it’ll do 27km/hr which feels plenty fast on this van. People go faster but you’ll crash it hardcore and break things fast or your paint job you spent all that time on will look like badword in no time. The oil filled shocks make it handle way better with less dorky bouncing around. The headlight kit is awesome too and was a cheap $15 plug and play upgrade. I also modified mine to get the diff from cantering up and slapping the motor which is super annoying and a must as far as I’m concerned..... oh and very recently I glued the tires to the rims as I was bombing around on the front street through puddles and one of the rear tires started to spin in the wheel. Lots of people don’t have a problem with this but I don’t know how, if a 23T mtr is enough to do that then they need to be glued. Sealed steel bearings are a must too, way less resistance.
