Vintage custom beach basher

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just thought i would share my project on a beach basher. All brand new vintage parts ( apart form the shell )

Based on the DT 01 chassis with Mad FIghter clear parts and vintage CVA shocks.

body is just sat at the moment ready for mounts and mocking up, a lot of cutting and fettling to make this look right 🥵🥵

Tell me what you think 👍🏻

As I am a big fan of the Blitzer Beetle, I really like it. What are you planning for the paint?

Not sure yet.

got to cut the wheel arches down a bit glue the sunroof and front panel. I was thinking of a retro style beach buggy maybe grey, yellow, white with a hint of pink somewhere.

open to ideas tho

Thank guys

The front tyres are vintage Losi racing rib front tyres.

Just got to somehow work out the body mounting.

For the front you can adapt the Blitzer Beetle front mount to the shock tower. I have done this to a DT-02 chassis.

Looks like your going to have a blast on the beach , well chosen parts as there's very little metal to rust ! Might want full waterproof electrics so you can just hose the sand off when you get home , I'd have to do a rusty effect body , have you seen the salting paint method for rust  , even if you don't like the effect its worth looking it up on YouTube .

Have fun !

Hopefully will be good fun, thanks for that, that was one reason i choose a simple design not many parts and simple to strip and rebuild.

will get waterproof electrics for sure

I keep looking at weathering but have never tried it i have either painted hard bodies or lexan to boxart.

I will deffo check it out some of the builds look ace 👍🏻
