Thank you! And exactlty why I bought a rere Buggy Champ, The Frog and The Grasshopper. To learn something about Tamiya's history by building them. Will get to it!

Thanks! Yes, going box art. Not confident (and creative) enough yet to give it my own twist. And I must admit I really like Tamiya's choice most of the time.

Nice, I'm going to go with box art on mine too, well when I get round to it later this year. The Stadium Blitzer looks amazing in standard form!B)

As you already could have seen in "So, What Have You Done Today?", I did go for box art:

Really like the car. Only thing I didn't like was the low front. So I ordered some foam rings to protect the body and to raise the front a little.

Looks much better now! Will take some new pictures when I am finally brave enough to actually hit the dirt with this one...

Last year I really liked buggy's. This year I really like Stadium Trucks. The first one was the Monster Racer and the second one was the above Stadium Blitzer.

So, any other Stadium Trucks from Tamiya? I present you the much beloved Stadium Raider:

SR01.jpg.23c65f7c01d2d83d86ea3cb0bf0038ed.jpg

SR02.jpg.ee90766299ae77efa2b819ea1ac34a76.jpg

Picked it up pretty cheap. Stripped it. Cleaned it. Fitted a steel pinion and took it out on the street. Maybe you already saw it on "So, What Have You Done Today?".

Must admit it actually drove pretty good. So. Now we have three of them:

SR03.jpg.d1504e71c85d25c035cfb53bd123f1b2.jpg

But maybe it is a little narrow? Don't you think so?

Yes. I think it is a little narrow indeed. This is a TL-01Ra. I'm sure I have read something about a TL-01B being a little wider...

Then something popped up. Pretty cheap. Again. Couldn't resist. So here it is:

SR06.jpg.f5451e1af3726f4847011a10c2d01d5e.jpg

SR07.jpg.2653d14f2257052e29eedad839a090eb.jpg

You know where I'm going right?

SR08.jpg.621f7308550dae9d6c0e8081f0ec6b85.jpg

SR09.jpg.e39f7555eaf0e163fd7f6aa3c22b9956.jpg

Must say I like it a lot! I really think this could become one cool Stadium Raider.

Is this TL-01B wider than a TL-01Ra? Yes it is:

SR10.thumb.jpg.c6206427b5cad49196cb9f07ebd041a0.jpg

So, we now have a proof of concept. I now need:
- 4 Blitzer rear rims
- 4 Blitzer rear tyres. Or should, and can, I fit a Blitzer front tyre on a Blitzer rear rim?
- 4 oil shocks because the shocks on the B are pogo sticks and the shocks on the Ra look to small
- Maybe a 17t pinion instead of the 19T pinion that comes standard?

Good thing I picked up the cars for cheap...

Bummer. Thought a 17T pinion woul fit but the options are 19T/21T/23T. Will try a 35T motor and see how hot it gets.

So... Did we run it? Yes, we did. Did we damage it? Yes, we did.

Did we have fun all summer long? Yes, we did! Awesome car.

And this is how our monsterized TL-01B ended up. Fitted CVA's and Schumacher tyres.

Was fun to drive. Kind off. But it drained batterys pretty quickly in this configuration and didn't perform that special.

Today it rained all day long. Summer has ended. Time to prep our wet weather cars (Mad Bull, Fighter Buggy RX Memorial and GF-01 Land Cruiser).

From dust to mud!

Unfortunately :( I didn't run the Monster Racer much. Maybe 2 or 3 times this summer...

The 5yo takes care of himself but the now 3yo also wants to have a go. And he still needs lots of assistence. So mostly we take just 2 cars out. And I'm not letting them drive the Monster Racer.

Sounds like you had lots of fun with these beauties! Nice to know they got used and created some pleasure too!

Yes, this hobby is ideal when you have kids that like cars. You take them outside for an hour and a half. They entertain themselves so you just have to watch and be there for them. And when you return home your wife is happy because she had some precious time for herself ;).

Last update in September... Pfew...

As seen in The "Postman Brought Me" Thread we bought some parts to widen our GF-01. The car is running a silver can now and the increased speed made it prone to tipping over. This frustrated the 5yo a bit so we searched for a solution and found it in the TL-01B arms.

What you need:
- Tamiya 10005688 C-parts for TL-01B / WR-01 / WT-01 x2
- Tamiya 19805551 driveshafts for Manta Ray / DT-02 / DF-03 / TT-02B MS x2
- Tamiya 5310001 3x71mm Threaded Shaft x2
- Tamiya 50596 adjuster 5mm 6pcs. x1

You can also use GPM CVD's for the Manta Ray but then you can't use the 12mm wheel adapters:
- GPM SDF1268C DF01 Steel Front/Rear Universal Swing Shaft x2
- Tamiya 53056 pin type wheel adapter x1

We used the screws etc. that came from the original parts and this is what we got using the GPM CVD's:

Much better! That's wide enough for us at the moment so we won't use the Manta Ray dogbones because I think the GPM CVD's are stronger.

Indeed! Different surfaces and some heights, just what we need. We only use it when it is quiet so we don't bump into other (smaller) kids ;).

Installed the big front bumper for better protection:

  Just to remind myself.

My goals for 2023:

- Keeping the 6yo's fleet up and running (The Grasshopper, Stadium Blitzer and GF-01)

- Selling off some of the unused cars for a fair price (Stadium Raider and Baja King)

- Completing a set of shelfers for my office (The Grasshopper and The Frog)

- Learn the 3yo how to drive a car alone and getting him his first own car when he turns 4yo

- Turning the Monster Racer and Madcap into reliable light runners and decent enough shelfers

- And last but not least: enjoy the hobby!

Don't buy anymore stuff before the above list is finished!

Don't worry, some stuff is already on its way. They don't count .

But after that it's done.
