Vintage Wild One to Blockhead conversion

Small detail update on the WO.

Added the supplied silver dummy fog lamps

Cut and installed this .5mm carbon fiber piece underneath the roof as a design and reinforcement as well.

lhmI18kh.jpg

In the manual, it says to reinforce the body with sheets of small aluminum tapes. I decided to use the 0.5mm CF parts which were excess from the roof. NOw that's literally "reinforced". :D

Cut and shaped the 1mm carbon fiber side panel for the chassis of the WO. I will bolt this using M2 hex screws which I already purchased.

Such a pretty buggy, I am so tempted by one of these to sit alongside my FAV but the BB01 is going to have to fulfill that role (as I've already pre-ordered and part-paid for it!)

Not sure about the rims personally, some Kyosho Scorpion plated rims would really lift it and tie in with the other plated parts. Just to plant that seed...

I actually like this from the Kyosho Tomahawk. But I will have to change the front upright and retrofit in the WO which is doable.

I've seen an aluminum silver star-dish but the price is just crazy. $60 + shipping for the rims only.

My body reinforcement tape arrived and I applied some on the WO body.

While it looks funny that the entire yellow housing illuminates, I actually like it. More visible at night drive.

Hope the front star-dish wheels and tires arrive this week. Can't wait to do a proper photoshoot with this one.

Looks like it really means business.

You going to splash out and go for those aluminium star dish wheels? They would rock on this thing....

If I can find those at a cheaper price, then I'd go for it. $60 for that set is kinda steep for wheels. I've spent $50 the last set of beadlock wheels for my CFX (which was the 4th set for that car) and told myself no more spending too much on wheels. Haha!

Keep returning back to this thread, it looks really smart.

I can't decide whether or not to splash out on the chrome-plated E-parts for my FAV. It's the Shark Mouth version so already mostly aluminium TS paint finish with green accents. Those parts look so good, just not sure if they'll look too flash on a military-esque vehicle.

£24 for the bits too

I spent about $300 on the conversion and stopped counting the cost after that. I just fooled myself pretending to be illiterate in math.  But at least the result made me really happy. :D

Since your FAV is mostly aluminum, I think the silver bits will definitely look good.

I've searched for this wheel and tires combo at local shops as well as online but it was so hard-to-find. It was only in Tamiya Factory Shop in HK that I found these. Glad to have them as they look much better on the WO than the bigger ones which make the WO look like a 4WD.

Very cool, I like your take on it.

I have just finished amassing parts to build another FAV / Wild One hybrid. I'm not sure what colour scheme to go with, so I've bought both red and silver / grey rollcage parts. It will sit in a box whilst I procrastinate for another 6 months I imagine!
