"I know we are all mates here and all get along, but please respect 'Tamiyaclub.com' as a brand like any other and do not use that brand to promote events or merchandise which has not been endorsed by the club first."

now i did make my own Tshirt & Jummper with the Tamiyaclub Logo & web address and was wearing it at clumber park i didn't ask if it was ok to do so as i did post that i was going to be making a tshirt using the idea from wldnas

"as for T-shirs how about this for an Idea. on the back have your user name across the shoulders and in the middle have the Box spanner logo with the "2nd best tool" legend. and on the front "www.Tamiyaclub.com" across the chest and maybe the box art picture of the Sand Scorcher or Hilux underneith it."

"i'm also going to have a go at that design wldnas was talking about for the T Shirt with a few changes of my own "

now if there was a problem with me designing a personal Tshirt for my self with the club logo why wasn't it posted because if it was i wouldn't have put the club address and logo on it

i'm only saying this because as far as i can see the post was directed at me.

Hi ShenUK,

I knew something like this would happen....

It wasn't aimed at you at anyone in particular at all. Especially not because of your tShirts I think its great that people get into the spirit of things.

It was mainly kicked off by something I was reading about 'Trademarks' for a 'real' job I am working on made me think it was worthing putting a statement on the board now, just incase it ever did become bigger.

Basically, and I'm not suggesting any of our current members would do this, as Tamiyaclub.com is not ran for profit and a lot of people put in a lot of hours for free I would not like to see anyone trying to make money of the back of the clubs name.

Its just part of all the legal hoops that a company/organisation has to jump through to protect itself - just like all the other terms and conditions you sign up to when you join.

If anyone wants to make TShirts or anything for themselves that fine, what would not be fine is for someone to start selling Tamiyaclub.com mugs/pencil cases/baseball caps on ebay without a prior agreement from the club.

Hope you can see the difference.

Cheers

Chris

how about if you painted up your car with tamiyaclubs name as part of it. I knows thats fine as it advertises the club but what happens if you sold it and people were bidding on it because of the Tamiyaclub association? I know its probably a silly idea, which i have no intention of doing, but i had to ask! Would you be making money out of the name?

again no problem, as long as it wasn't sold as 'official tamiyaclub' merchandise.

A lot of people put a lot of time and effort into the club for free and all I am trying to do is stop someone coming along and making a fast buck off the Tamiyaclub name. Just in the same way you would want to protect your site or even name.

This may all sound trivial, it does to me too but I am just trying to think ahead to when the site is a much bigger brand. It will happen.
