Hello,

what do you use for Lexan reinforcement?

You find Reinforcement Tapes on Ebay. But are they any good?

Someone recomended to use Fiberglass and Shoegoo, but "ready to use" Tape would be much nicer.

Edit:

I´m afraid of pulling the Paint of the Body if i put tape on it.

But a few Bodys need reinforcement (like the KingCab....)

Shoe goo and fiber tape commonly used for drywall repairs. 1 to 2 layers of that stuff works great. Some people use black truck bed rubber lining and it also works. You will need under 2 bottles of shoe goo for a 1/10 drift body and 3 for the bigger 1/10 truck bodies. 1 layer of fiber tape is great but a 2nd layer for areas that recive more impacts wont hurt.

I don't know if there is a suitable tape product but I trust shoe goo. Depending on body geometry the fiber tape will need some ideas on how to put the strips as 90 degrees sometimes has tape rebound away from where you want it to stay.

And what do you think about the reinforced Aluminum Tapes from Ebay (Searchterm "Lexan Tape")?

I think Shoegoo is not an Option for me if you need 2 Bottles (20 Bucks each) :D

Another lighter alternative to drywall tape is Shoe Goo and toile fabric from a fabric shop. It’s almost like a cheesecloth but synthetic. I like it is used for veils and fringe on fancy dresses.
it is lighter than drywall tape but a little harder to work with since it is thinner and lighter.

I use Gorilla duct tape inside the doors and drywall tape/shoegoo for the bumpers. Holds up well and makes the bodies last.

I’ve used gorilla tape around the body holes on a lot of my bodies.

On my G6-01 bus I have home made washers hot glued around the body post holes.  I use this trick a lot . I use discarded plastic milk jug  or cat litter containers  cut to side with scissor, hot glue over the body post hole, and use a body reamer to carefully cut to fit the hole exactly.
It adds a tough,’flexible layer at a high stress weak point.

Each person has their own choices to make on this. Its around $14 per bottle where I buy it but the reassurance the body will survive well in an impact is worth the money spent on it. It depends on the body and paint job of the RC and which might have more personal value.

I've also sacrificed juice bottles to make plastic washers in the past.

I plastidip my bodies then buy new ones once I've trashed then... Bodies I buy are only like $30 (proline)..

Except for that king cab body I want... That thing is expensive! I'll probably just buy a thrash body for it and just use the OEM body for show like I did with the Flying Brick...

But what is the advantage over normal goilla- crocodile-, gaffa, duckt- or whatevertape?

This is what other People use:

One reason I can think of is that aluminium tape has no elasticity, meaning when you stick it to uneven surfaces with complicated curves (like the inside of a car body) it conforms to the shape and doesn't try to return to its previous shape, meaning it stays stuck.

Also, if you don't quite stick it right into a sharp corner, you can press it in afterwardstand it will stretch, and the lack of elasticity means it doesn't eventually pop back out. This may only be possible with non-fibre reinforced versions, however, as the fibres may resist stretching.

When quickly repairing bodies during races I used aluminum tape.  Works well.. until you crash again.  Best reinforcement imho is to cut your foam bumpers to match the body's inner  contour and secure them to your body posts/chassis.
