Managed Payments by Ebay

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Just wondering what you all think of this. Ebay are basically cutting out PayPal and doing it themselves. There is no option, you have to sign up for it this year and PayPal will be fased out by 2023. It means standard Ebay UK fees are 12.8%, plus 30p per transaction and I think the payment is paid directly to your bank. There will be no more monthly invoices to pay your Ebay fees as there taken straight away.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Hairy

Dont like the idea.

but I tend to ise ebay.com more often.

to be honest I find it more annoying that there are so many ebays in the first place.
like:

ebay.co.uk

ebay.com

ebay.it

ebay.at

ebay.de and more... I tend to use Ebay.com more then any other and sell stuff pretty decent, its just so much work to use all extensions and all have different policies. I am not affected via ebay.com

I’ve been using it since January. I definitely do not like it for one main reason you dont get paid after a sale for 2-3 days. I liked having the instant money from paypal. It won’t make or break me but it’s the principle of having it right away. They should look into having an ebay wallet of instant money from sales like paypal has.

I don't like the delay in releasing funds but if you only list stuff when ebay have their £1 final value fee offer on then you can save a bit of money compared to using paypal.

I haven't sold anything on eBay in years so it makes no difference to me. I only sell via tamiyaclub or FB groups where I can build a rapport with a buyer before selling. I buy a lot from pro sellers on eBay who I doubt will be massively effected

I've been using this method for a few weeks now . It is very basic and slow , but as stated when you use £1 max selling fees it does pay slightly in your favour . The breakdown of fees / costs info is very basic and not detailed as how much is F.V. fees and costs ( their slice) like it used to be on the old method along with PP . The new system also charges you a cut for a direct cash ££ payment on collection by the buyer whereas before PP didn't get a cut , but now eBay does along with the F.V fee .

Thats interesting about the cash on collection cut. That always seemed like a bit of a loophole to me. Guess they were going to close it soon enough.

Not sold on Fleabay for years, Feed up with their fees and PP`s. If I want to sell I use FB now, normally someone local will but so no hassle posting.

Also lots of "groups" so thest look out for specialised stuff, like most of you will now. Can pay using PP so still have protection if you use your loaf

iv'e never sold on ebay  i only buy and i don't have a pay-pal account anyway so use card to pay straight away the way i see it if you cant pay starigt away then don't bid or buy .

ebay will always stick for the buyer if their is  problem with the item/listing so i am surprised they have not done this a long time ago and get rid of the pay-pal a long time ago.

It’s not great

I’d sold and shipped the same day like i always do but my money didn’t come into my account (skipping PayPal) for a few days after I shipped

I prefer the paypal Way and I’m more inclined to reinvest that PayPal money back into eBay

Same basically, if something sold for 15-20$ I reinvest the money. If it stacks up in a couple of days to 80-100$ I usually transfer that money to the card

I've found eBay great for selling rare stuff, wider audience etc.

I didn't get around to setting up another bank account with my last sales, but has gone directly onto PayPal, as per usual.

The fees though!!

£1 max selling fee, but still over £30 in fees.....🤬🤬 (and because it was for the Glasgow RC club funds, of course I'd given the money over ,before I got hit..)

What seller cover do you get on fb marketplace?

gumtree sucks as people are just rude

I don’t find the eBay fees too bad and you can get more £ for somethings plus you can factor in your eBay fees if you need to
