Mechanic AH 581 Posted April 10, 2021 (Not sure if this thread exist, I tried looking but didn't look far back enough .) Anyone want to share photos of your TT-01 (can be any variant). From exterior, body work, and shell off. Been holding out on getting another kit but had to pull the trigger on a TT-01E even if it's old because I have a thing for the Mercedes 190E 2.5-1.6 EVOII—the actual car and story. I can't wait to build it as a runner and very excited. In the meantime, it would be cool to see photos of everyone's TT-01 build to get me more excited and inspired . Anyone want to start? Thanks.
speedy_w_beans 4272 Posted April 10, 2021 Started as a TT01R Type E and got the full 3Racing graphite and aluminum treatment.
mtbkym01 4008 Posted April 10, 2021 Here’s mine, no body off shots, but a standard TT01E chop shop kit built with bearings and CVA shocks from my XV01 kit that I built Long Damper. Wanted to use a spare Brat shell up as something different.
TurnipJF 9192 Posted April 10, 2021 Here are two of mine, both 13.5t brushless powered with similar levels of alloy and carbon:
hedge 314 Posted April 10, 2021 I’ll get in with the Nitro one :-) This is a very (non bling) hopped up car. Balllink style adjustable turnbuckle steering rods to increase suspension travel. TT-01e front and rear suspension mounts for additional damper mounting options. TT-01d lower front and rear arms for additional damper mount options plus fronts offer droop stop adjustment. TT-01r upper front and rear arms for adjustment. Ballraced all round and the diffs are shimmed to reduce slip. Also has the friction free suspension balls for super smooth suspension movement and of course oil filled dampers to replace the old pogo sticks. Lastly a nitro specific upgrade, it has the speed up gear hoppup. Its modded for 24mm ride height, the perfect rally car :-)
ThunderDragonCy 7878 Posted April 10, 2021 Here's my TT01E Porsche GT3. It's built to Iconic Tamiya Stock Class rules, so restricted hop ups. Its got 54000 M-Chassis alloy dampers, full bearings, alloy prop shaft, alloy motor mount and speed tuned gearset. The steering is modified with ball connectors and turnbuckles, with a rearward mounted low profile servo to get the drag link straight. It's running TBLE02S and a Torque Tuned motor with 25/58 gearing as i race with a few fellas at the club who restrict the rules even further to slower motor and fixed gearing for really close racing. We run race tyres, so the wheels, are dull. Despite it being a fairly cheap punt into stock class racing, and not really liking the body (which is good because it will get wrecked racing) i like the hunkered down stance. If i wasn't restricted by the rules i would put toe in rear uprights on as the rear is quite wayward with the stock uprights - even here with sticky race tyres and posh shocks - so i would highly recommend those if your Merc will be a runner. 53673.

Mechanic AH 581 Posted April 10, 2021 Thanks guys. Those are all some amazing TT-01s! @speedy_w_beans how does that chassis perform compared to the basic TT-01? @TurnipJF love the touch of that carbon upper frame and GPM battery heat sink. 15 hours ago, ThunderDragonCy said: i would put toe in rear uprights on as the rear is quite wayward with the stock uprights - even here with sticky race tyres and posh shocks - so i would highly recommend those if your Merc will be a runner. 53673. Thanks for the advice, I most likely will do some toe in. Have you raced a TT-02 and able to comapre? @hedge Ok that must be one insane setup. Love it. How does the chassis and transmission/drivetrain hold up? @mtbkym01 one of the more unique shells I've seen, looks very cool @svenb that's one clean kit, for the short wheelbase do you just flip the front and rear arms? I think I read about that somewhere. Anything else needed?

ThunderDragonCy 7878 Posted April 11, 2021 @Mechanic AH I haven't run a TT02 so i can't compare i'm afraid.

Only second time I've seen those arms--they were from Japan right? And do those brake calipers stay in place when the wheels/axles rotate?
Killajb 1546 Posted April 12, 2021 Yes @Mechanic AH I bought them here in Japan, and the calipers stay in place while the wheels rotate. I thought the idea of lower rotating mass by integrating the calipers rather than including them along with the wheel drive hexes was slick, and they look authentic when the car is in motion because you can see the "rotors" more clearly when they are stationary. Can find their stuff online here: https://eagleonlineshop.com/eagleshop/shop/ShopProduct.aspx?type=Search&keyword=tt-01

I checked the site and saw how the brake discs attach. One day I'll try to gamble and purchase online from them. On a side note, I'm always amazed how many of these Japanese RC aftermarket companies are out there—but only selling to their domestic market. Must be a large local market if they can survive. Made me think about some of the Hong Kong brands and how they're the opposite and push their products to the global market.
