58113 BMW M3 Sport Evo

Recommended Posts

Happy weekend - Hope everyone is well.

I’m hoping someone may be able to offer me some advice? Im new to this forum, so please be gentle!

I have a 58113 BMW M3 Schnitzer, which I built as a child in 1992. It is complete with all original/no replaced parts (I loved it as a child!). I have the manual and the box is in very good condition - it still has the Beatties shop price sticker on it.

Whilst I love the car, I’m trying to understand if it has any value? I’ve seen unbuilt ones can go for a good price, but I’m struggling to see what a built one goes for. Is anyone able to advise on a rough value?

I have a young son who is into r/c cars and I’m contemplating selling it and starting a new Tamiya journey with him.

Many thanks for any help you can provide

Looking at recent ebay listings a nib unbuilt one went for £400 and a good condition empty box for £75. What condition is the chassis and body in?

Thanks for the comment. I’d say both the chassis and body are in good condition. It’s currently at my parents, so I have limited pics - these are the ones I have.

One sold used fairly recently on 12 March from Germany via an auction - I found this on eBay with a search for ‘Tamiya BMW M3’, located worldwide, if you want to look at all the photos on the listing and compare properly.

Thank you. I rarely use ebay and didn’t realise you could include sold items in a search!

Based on the price, I think I’ll keep it as a project for my son and I.

After 20+yrs of absence, I’m learning again... are parts readily available for the chassis and can you recommend any good/reliable retailers?

Thanks again

The best outcome for sure.

I assume by the Beatties sticker you are in the UK? If so Tonystamiyaparts on ebay is probably the best source of spare parts

Thanks for the tip 👍.   Yes, I’m based in the UK.

Have a great weekend

I’d keep it if it was me especially if that was your car.  Why sell it?

I've had this car since the mid-90's.  I sold most of my sedans around 1999-2000 while the touring car scene was still hot, but kept this one mainly for nostalgic reasons.  The only other sedan I have left is a RS4 Pro which is my driveway basher.. I don't do sedans any more, only very short wheel base cars.

Looks lovely - the wheels are 👌

It is definitely an iconic car, one I lusted after as a child, along with the Integrale.

I’m not an experienced rc user, are modern/other tamiya model parts compatible with the chassis?

Thanks, I will say that the box art is a lot better looking than the actual RC car… something to think about.

As for hop-ups the usual bearings, dampers, etc are compatible given you get the right ones.  But this is a very old chassis and is (imho) only good for casual driving, not a serious contender of any sorts against modern sedans.

Smart choice to keep it. Now I’ll add a recommendation. The M3 body is very hard to come by as Tamiya and BMW are at odds over licensing.

So I recommend you pick up any 1:10 body to your liking and keep that BMW M3 body under protective wraps

Thanks for the tip. I plan to let my 3yr old son use it, so I’m keen to get a new body!

I’m currently looking at either an escort mk1 or this F40 body from l&l models, which I believe will fit?

Most parts of the TA01/TA02 are still available. Also many compatible parts from other brands.

L&L have M3 shells that are pretty close to your original one BTW.

Lots of TA02 parts are interchangeable with the TA01, just not the chassis tub or suspension arms and a few other smaller bits..
