It's Friday again!  It's been a fairly crazy week, I'm still putting stuff away from the Iconic Revival last weekend, and just about catching up on washing.

This weekend should be a quiet one, hopefully.

Friday

WFH this morning, then go out for a walk in the hills before it gets dark.  Maybe record a DJ mix for a friend later, maybe work on the novel, maybe just play some games on the PC until bed.  It's a lo-cal day, and it's often hard to focus in the evenings because I'm hungry.

Saturday

Family day.  No solid plans, but we might load up the van and head to the beach.  Grab some sausages and buns to cook for lunch, take the Bear Hawk and the SRB and the Truck of Many Wheels.

Then back home in time for a really good mate to come over with his partner.  Actually, I met him on Tamiyaclub.  We'll get in a takeaway and play thoroughly inappropriate games all night.

Sunday

Spend the day with my daughter while my wife works on some creative stuff.  Probably cuddle and watch films and do some educational games.

Monday

It's the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, so we're all home from work / school.  I've got an appointment to get my back straightened out in the morning, but otherwise I'll do my official mourning by getting the scalers ready for the Scaler Nationals.  I need to put the transmission back in the CFX-W and make an interior for it, and check the other cars over.  Otherwise, that's about it :)

Have a great one, everybody!

Almost the weekend already!

Friday - Work until 5.30, home then out to ASDA to do the shopping with mother. Pizza when I get home, followed by a brisk walk with my friends Labrador round the block.

Saturday - TOY FAIR! Sandown Park, starts at 10.30, hoping to find some gems that aren't too expensive! May go into Kingston afterwards, not sure yet though!

Sunday - Nothing really planned at the moment

Monday - Free day off! I'm sorry to say that I have little to no interest in the Funeral of Her Majesty, so I'm planning on going down my container and having a tidy-up. Got some more stuff to take down there anyway, so it's a good time to get it done!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's Friday again!  What's everyone up to?  Any racing or events going on?

Should be a fairly quiet one for me.

Friday

WFH this morning, finish around 2pm, then popping out to drop off some parts to another TCer.  Then try to get another 8 mile walk in before the sun goes down, before back home to chill out, probably end the day with some games.

Saturday

A quiet one at home with my daughter.  She's off to a party around midday, so maybe get some time in the workshop to rebuild the CFX-W shocks.  Maybe after that we'll do another step or two on her Super Storm Dragon.

Probably watch a movie in the evening, or maybe get in the studio for a bit.  Wife is out all day so hopefully get plenty of focus time.

Sunday

Make a false floor for the CFX-W so I can mount the driver.  Maybe have time to make a dashboard and bucket seat as well.  We'll see.  Maybe even tidy up the utter mess that is the wiring.

I may even have time to start fitting the planetary transmission in the Enduro 6x6, but this is the last free day before the Scaler Nationals so I probably need to start sorting out what parts I'll be taking and laying out all my batteries ready for charging and packing later in the week.

Sun eve - eat some spicy food and chill out in the studio.

Have a great one, wherever you are :)

This weekend is my first weekend without any 'must do' from my wife.

I've been planning to install the reversing camera in my (full-size) car, but I cannot find the camera anywhere as it's a small box between many other stuff in the garage.

But with the colder seasons coming rapidly, insulation DIY is taking priority with today's energy prices.

Need to measure up some old dual-pane windows in the kitchen, so I can order modern HR++ dual-pane glass to replace the old stuff.

And check out some areas on the house that need insulation improvement.

Promised sister in law that I would do some electrical work.....

There is always something that needs painting....

When you are a home owner, you are never bored.

Bit of a strange 7 days..

Last Friday, was my weekend, and figured I'd try and get the Schuamcher Fusion running and driving, with all the neighbours in work, kids in school, and as I've not run it run it (actually driving it out of 1st gear, using the handset , rather than just running it up o the bench).

Filter had seen better days -

20220829_162147 20220829_184458

Found a new car wash sponge, and donated some of it ,as a filter ,and got it running!! 💪

2022-09-23_11-44-26

Couple of drifts up and around the monoblocks, and adjust so it was running nice, stopped, topped up the tank, grabbed the body etc, and headed to the street to run it up through the gears, except, it wouldn't start again....🤬🤬.

Kids needed picked up from school a short time after , so...🤦‍♂️

Ended up in hospital, on Saturday, after work, with an 'incarcerated umbilical hernia ' and had emergency surgery. Back home Monday and signed off work for 2 months 😳

Kids off today, as its a Bank holiday in Glasgow (September weekend), so relaxing ,isn't really going to happen until Tuesday....

I've a few RC projects on the back burner, rebuild the Dark Impact,  convert a Mid to shorty lipo, 2 x nib DT03's I've to decide what to do with and maybe go through my 'stock' and have a thin out, a few I haven't used for years..

Big regional monster truck race this Sunday, have been looking forward to it for a while now.  Have been racing nearly every other weekend lately with new locations coming up pretty regularly.  Some new indoor locations which is going to be great for the winter.

Also replaced my daily driver last week due to it being totaled on the drive home from work a few weeks back.  Was pretty upset over it as my dad bought it brand new and I was nearly at 300k miles still running like a top.  I could fix it, but with that mileage it's really not financially justifiable, would be strictly for nostalgia and the car is really not special enough for that.  Anyhow - I replaced it with a 2006 Jaguar XJ8 long wheelbase with only 41k miles on the clock.  Got a fantastic deal on it and couldn't pass it up.  Everything has been good so far, but I'm sure I'll jave the typical Jag issues that I've had with my others.

oh noes!  still, the Jag looks nice.  Does it have self-changing oil, like other British cars?

Hahaha, that gave me a good laugh.  No, these newer Jags are actually pretty good cars.  I like these because they were designed and built in the UK using Ford money and electronics.  Classic looks without all of the typical 70s/80s Jag issues.  Still pretty complex cars either way, but  definitely not as problematic as the older cars.

Just another boring weekend for me..

Friday.. WFH.. given I can stay awake.   I have a big Teams meeting this afternoon so hope that goes real quick.  I've not taken summer vacation yet, I hope to do that soon.   I already did a bunch of house chores and honey do's this morning so hopefully majority of the day I can relax and take it easy.. maybe play some tunes in my music room.  Tonight, going to stream a movie and call it early.

Saturday..  will take my GR Supra out for her last weekend drive of the season after early morning house chores, fuel up, and hibernate her.   Afternoon I may decide to clean the house's central HVAC ion filteration system in prep for my contractor coming out on Monday to clean and inspect the rest of the heating system in prep for winter.  Otherwise relax in my piano lounge to stream a movie with pop corn, and maybe open up the electronics I got this week for the 420X to make sure they all work.

Evening, going to catch up on some TV shows I missed.

Sunday.. weather permitting, going to take my 2016 STI out for a nice weekend drive.  I plan to drive her maybe another month before hibernation.  I received a recall notice that my switch for the reverse light/cluster indicator/rear view camera might need replacing.. I am guessing this is the switch on the transmission itself (?) Given that my car works fine and not driven much (still ~15K miles), going to skip it until I notice the camera not engaging.  Afternoon, will prep the central house HVAC and basement for my contractor coming the following morning, then relax in my music room.  Stream a movie at night.

Have a great weekend everyone!  :D

Friday already! Where does the time go?

Well today, I'm at work until 5.30 ish, home, then out food shopping with mother. Get back, get a few mouthfuls of pizza, then out walking my friends Labrador round the block.

Saturday - Work (AGAIN!) until 1pm, home, pick my brother up, then dash off to pick my son up from work. Round to his nan's so my brother can help arrange my son's collection of Star Wars Black Series figures. He has quite a few! I'm hoping I get time whilst at work to give my car a good clean, I've put it off for a few weeks as I broke my foot and had a walker boot on, but it's slowly getting better and I don't need the boot anymore. Needs a wash and a good hoover, and I must clean my driver's seat as its disgusting!

Sunday - Nothing planned yet, it's hard to find places to go that aren't miles away that we haven't been to before. I may get some time to build a Lego set I bought at the toy fair last weekend. I also found a box static 1:12th Tamiya Porsche 934 RSR that had never been built. I found a built-up one the last time I went to the fair, and I'm planning on using one of them to restore a 58001 RC chassis that was given to me. I've no idea when I'll get round to doing this, but I will do it!

@Wooders28 - wishing you a speedy recovery!

@87lc2 - sorry to hear about your car, new one looks lovely though! Enjoy!

It’s a long weekend here in Melbourne as Thursday was a national day of mourning for The Queen and then Friday was a state holiday for the footie final (which is actually played on a Saturday).

Lots going on at home so no RC time. Most of the time has been spent running my wife around as she’s unwell and having lots of visits to doctors and specialists.

We also had an “interesting” challenge as foxes got under our house by getting under the veranda. Not fun as their scent is pretty pungent 🤮 So I spent some time blocking holes yesterday.

Today (Sunday) I’ve got a mate coming over for lunch and then he’s going to install my new home networking set-up. I’m hoping that means the end of crappy drop-outs, slow connections and dead zones across the house. Mind you we have to get under the house so let’s hope the foxes have gone!

More boring weekend coming up for me.

Friday.. WFH, will work on the Hakosuka GTR as I am expecting my 3ch receiver to arrive tomorrow.  Will bind it with my Spektrum transmitter, add some oil in the dampers, adjust ride height and take the car out for a quick test drive.  Otherwise, just work and evening will be spent streaming a movie.

Saturday.. weather permitting, taking my STI out for a nice weekend drive after early morning house chores.  Afterwards, I need to clean and paint 4 exterior light fixtures on my garage this weekend so will make reusable masks, etc.  If the paint arrives early, will start painting, but otherwise will do the painting on Sunday.  Then my rubber stamp afternoon and evening.

Sunday.. weather permitting, taking my STI out for another weekend drive.. clean the car afterwards.  Then once temps reach 60F finish painting the 4 exterior lamps.  Then I need to mark the lawn sprinkler heads as my contractor is going aerate the lawn early next week.  Otherwise, just another rubber stamp afternoon and evening.  :D

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Managed to persuade my wife ,to relinquish the garage door keys (she wanted me to rest rest, and she doesn't class 'tinkering in the garage' as rest....🤷‍♂️), and also, to accompany me into said garage, to gather RC parts and projects, so I can do bits in the house, on the dining room table 😁.

Got started, decided to do a YouTube vid, and really not sure how , everytime I hit the record button, the door bell would go, or the washing washing (I didn't actually know was running) would do a spin cycle etc, so maybe took an hour,  to do a couple of minute vid...

Got a phone call off a mate from down the road, as they where on the way up to Glasgow,  for a night out (as you do..), so a couple of brews, biscuits and a blether this afternoon, which was a nice surprise.

Tomorrow,  the kids have friends around for a play date. So I think I'm maybe better watching from the sidelines, and not get roped into ,pushing them on the swings, or the other , dad dad dad dad watch this dad,  dad dad dad dad, can you play football dad , dad dad dad...

Pretty much a routine weekend coming up for me..

Friday.. Day 3 of my late summer vacation, starting the day off with some house chores and getting my 1:1 Forester washed.   I got done doing the oil change today along with routine inspection.  After the car wash, I think I am going to make a shop vac for Willy's shop out of plasticard.  It was difficult to find a hose to go with the vac, but I think I found some cord wraps without the slit to make it all work.  Will find out soon..

Saturday.. weather permitting, taking my STI out for a nice weekend drive after early morning house chores.  Then do an oil change on my whole house generator after it runs is routine exercise.  Then rest of afternoon enjoy some peace and tunes in my music room or stream a movie with pop corn in my piano lounge.  Evening will be spent watching TV while surfing the net for my future RC project.  :D

Sunday.. weather permitting, taking my STI out for another drive, fuel her up, and place her in hibernation.  Afternoon will finish up any last minute plasticard projects and open up my Optima MID to start the build.   Evening will be spent streaming a movie.

Monday.. we have a national holiday, so will spend most of the morning working on my Optima MID after some routine house chores.  Then make some Japanese curry for supper with my older son, and take it easy in my music room in the afternoon while it simmers.  My son might ask to take my WRX out for more MT driving lessons so will attend to that if he asks.  Rest of the day just relax in my music room, stream a movie at night.

Have a great weekend everyone! B)

I was hoping this weekend would be back to the routine for me, but it's going to be a little different, hopefully in a good way.

Friday

WFH until 2pm, on a 600 calorie day and I'm already hungry, so it's going to feel like a long one.  Small sandwich for lunch, then straight out for my afternoon walk.  It's been a while since I've done a proper walk and my back is really sore this week, plus the forecast is for rain, so I might not make the full 8 miles, but will be nice to be back out in the hills.

Maybe work on the novel when I get home, or maybe just play some games if I'm too hungry to concentrate.

Saturday

Daddy/daughter day, with a break in the middle as she has a birthday party to attend.  By the time I've cycled come home from dropping her off it'll be almost time to cycled back to fetch her again, so I'll probably just dust off and unpack the scalers after last week's Nationals.  Otherwise, just playing together and some scootering on the back lane.

I think my wife wants me to help with something on Saturday eve, after that I'll either stream a movie or work on the novel.

Sunday

Normal Workshop Sunday is temporarily postponed while I help an old friend move house.  He's a great guy and fun to be around, plus his vintage RC collection has been boxed, stored and untouched for 5 or 6 years, so maybe I'll get a peek at some of the things we used to play with a lot.  No playtime though as it's all got to go into storage while he moves into temporary accommodation.

Probably most of the day will be gone by the time I'm home, so I'll make up the rest of the day as I go, finishing off in the studio with the novel and some beers.

Whatever you do, have a great one :)

Do you have an original too?

Be interesting to see how they compare.

I've heard a few people ,say they're either draining the fuel systems or adding a fuel stabiliser for the winter, as the ethanol in modern E10 fuels ,absorbs moisture, does filling right up, help reduce this?

Even over here, manuals are getting less and less, with the young team 'car guys' all running the DSG type autos. Starting to miss the old days, when you could hear if they could drive or not, if they could heel & toe into a corner and match every rev on the change down, with a wee crackle on the over run (don't even get that now with fuel injection) 🥺

I was hoping to get down to the track today, probably the last one until spring (although, maybe a impromptu meet, if theres a break in the weather) more just to catch up with the lads, heavy rain is forecast for sunday, so the club meet has been shifted to today.

I'm thinking my name has been changed at some point over the past few weeks I've been off work, as all I get now is, 'Kanye Just' give me a hand with this, 'Kanye Just' drop this off at my mums...🤦‍♂️

Enjoy your weekend folks!

@Wooders28 I only own the rere Optima MID .. unfortunately when I was a kid I didn’t have much money and couldn’t afford anything more than just the very basic Tamiya cars.. Kyosho never hit the radar for me until just recently while I found interest to do a vintage buggy collection so I don’t have any nostalgic memories enough to get an original one. .  It’s really just the M38’s that I own originals..

As for the 1:1 car fuel, I start filling with stabilizer near the end of the season.  I use Stabil360 as it gives me more flexibility than the standard red Stabil that I  use in my plastic jerry can for my snow thrower ..

About my kid practicing MT, it is so true here too in the USA.. most kids seem to have no interest in cars especially not MT.  My kid said he loves driving my WRX and wants to get better so that he can buy a MT GR86 down the road.   For some reason my kid has fascination with cars I liked when I was a kid and those 86/BRZ are good representation.. like a rere. :D

Sorry to hear about the weather..hope you get to hang out with your buddies.. and not sure what’s going on with your name change…?!     Have a good one!

Been lucky with getting both the mid customs I've had, with my current having a few motors since 2016, but currently a 5.5t and a modern slipper, so not sure if going rere would be worth the £400 ?

Cheers, I'll have a look at that.

Didn't end up going, kids ended up battling, my eldest wanting to come and run her car with her dad, without her little sister, but her sister was determined she was going too....🤺🤦‍♂️

Went for a few mile walk through the woods with the family instead ,which was needed tbh, and seemed to stop the blood shed, and calm the rabble.

It's Friday again, peeps!  Anybody up to anything exciting?

I think it's going to be a real quiet one for me.

Friday - the usual WFH this morning, then off for my walk this afternoon.  My route was cut short by heavy rain last week, let's see if today stays dry.  It's been a while since I managed the full 8 miles.

After that I'll probably try to upload some of the outstanding photos from the last couple of events and get my write-ups done, as it's been hanging over my shoulders a little these last few weeks.

Saturday - the usual daddy/daughter day.  Probably drive to Bristol to see my parents, if they're free.  If not there's a kids book reading at the local library.  Otherwise, just practicing some numbers, chilling at home and maybe working some more on her Super Storm Dragon build if she wants to.

Probably stream a film in the evening.

Sunday - Workshop Sunday, the first for quite a while.  I've got dozens of little jobs that need doing, plus lots of things to be tidied.  I might just make it a general busy-body day.  Tidy the paint bench, clean the resin printer, brush-paint the Novafox driver that's been sat around for 4 years (no joke, really!), put some weights in the crawler wheels (no idea why I've never done this).  The F150 Tow Truck needs some plastic parts fabricating and some light buckets designing and 3D-printing.  The BOM needs a new interior plate and the CFX-W needs a dashboard.

I've also neglected the CC01 Hop-up vs Homebrew project for longer than I can remember, so maybe it's time to resurrect that?  I doubt there'll be time after all those other things, plus parts are on order for the Enduro 6x6 and some other broken things, so it could be a few weeks before I get to it, but it's nice to start thinking about some other projects.

Probably try to find some comedy or adventure to watch in the evening while I eat my dinner, then chill out in the studio.  I finished the latest draft of one of my novels this week so I probably need to pick up and work on another nearly-finished novel before it stagnates.

Have yourselves a fantastic weekend wherever you are!

Friday - Work, though I'm adding the stickers to the Firedragon I bought from Grumpy Pants (Simon) in my lunch break, so something RC related at long last! I'm not happy with the sticker on the nose cone, so may buy another set to try and get it straight, it's just really bugging me!

Saturday - Work in the morning, though I'm hoping to get a rear wheel bearing changed on my Lupo. It's due it's MOT next month and the NSR has a bit of play, so that needs doing ASAP. But because I've not had it in the garage where I normally keep it since April, the battery keeps going flat as I'm not using it that much. Changing the battery is a pain as it's in the boot and its full of crap! Saturday PM, pick my son up from his house, not sure what he wants to do or where he wants to go, but I'm sure we'll go somewhere!

Sunday - Nothing planned yet. Pick my son up and go out somewhere. He did suggest Southampton, but that's a good 90 miles from me! We have done the journey a few times in the car, so I know the way, it's just bit of a trek! It would be nice to go somewhere we've not been to before or not been to for a long time, so we'll see what happens!

Anyway, hope you all have a great weekend whatever you're up to!

Looking forward to the write-ups @Mad Ax, always a good read.   Not too much going on this weekend, but wil definitely be working on my newest TXT-2 race truck.  Have the drivetrain built, just need to mount everything to the chassis, make battery/electronics mounts, and make some sway bars.  Trying to get it done soon so I can get a body on and painted for the winter.  May be the last paint job of the season, its getting cold quick out there.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I recently changed the battery on my daily Golf, got the ampere off the battery, around £70, that'll do. Oh, it's a start / stop add an extra bit, and then the 'Joy' of finding the battery 'needs to be programmed' into the ecu....., urm what?💷💷💷💷😳

Fri - Finished the Dark Impact! (Pics to follow on my build thread...) , cooking a curry, on my 3rd can cheers!...🙄🍺

Sat - kids off to a soft play for a birthday party, so going to head off to the local bmx track, and catch up with the local RC 'bashers' .

Sun - hoping to get in the garage, but with it being half term next week ,and the kids being off school next week, might head down the road to catch up with the folks, blackpool etc...

Well my plans changed already - my wife got a last-minute place to stay this weekend so she's off tomorrow morning.

So, taking the child to see my parents tomorrow, then Sunday we'll probably chill at home, practice some maths and reading, build some more of her Super Storm Dragon and cuddle up to watch a film.  Right now she's loving riding her scooter up and down the lane, which means I can stand in the workshop and get lots of little jobs done - maybe some brush painting, decalling and other little bits that I had put on my list for Workshop Sunday.

Also I'm now seriously tempted to abandon the meal plan for Saturday and get in a ridiculously huge and unhealthy takeaway all for myself.

For me, yet another boring weekend coming up.

Friday.. WFH, had some time between work to fiddle around with the Optima MID so I was happy about that.  Tonight, going to do one more house chore before sinking back into my pretend RC shop to make a 4 cell for my comm lathe.  I decided I should probably have it ready to cut as I will be running my buggies all winter long.  Evening will be spent streaming some TV and relaxing.

Saturday.. After early morning house chores, I will work on painting the side wall lettering on my Optima MID and waterless wash my 1:1 WRX after weather warms up a bit.  I am expecting several different pinion gears to arrive so will play with the gearing on the Optima MID to optimize the car.   Afternoon will be spent cleaning up the brick patio in the back yard as I want to rid all weeds in prep for next season.   Then relax in my piano lounge with popcorn to watch a movie, followed by relaxing in my music room playing some tunes on my electric keyboards.  Evening will be spent watching TV.

Sunday.. Basically will be in my pretend RC shop all day working on finishing up Willy's shop vac amoungst other items as I want to clear my open items list in preparation for the Turbo Scropion build coming up next.  Late afternoon and evening will be a rubber stamp of Saturday.

Have a great weekend everyone!  B)

It's Friday again!  Well, I think it is.  Actually I just had to check, because it doesn't feel like a Friday, maybe because I had Wednesday off?

Anyway, what's everyone got planned for the weekend?  Anything exciting going on?

It's going to be a fairly quiet one here.  It's half term now - when I were a lad that meant 1 week of sitting in the store room at the art shop my mum worked in waiting for the work day to end, these days it's 8 days long and is split over 3 weeks, for reasons that only the educational establishment can fathom, and the entire adulting world gets turned upside down as we try to work out what to do with a 5-year-old while making an attempt to achieve our working hours commitments.  But it all works out well because she's staying away with family for most of next week, so it should be business-as-usual during the day and a little bit quieter in the evenings.

So - the weekend!

Friday - working from home, try to finish early afternoon for a walk.  If the rain stops then I might go cycling along the Imber Path, as I've been meaning to do for months, and losing the opportunity as the clocks change soon.  The forecast says wet, so I might explore a new route I found closer to home.  Chill out in the studio, work on my novel and play games tonight.  Or maybe do some more decaling on the LMT, or maybe design the light buckets for the F150 tow truck.

Saturday - daddy/daughter day.  Walk her to the library for storytime, then probably chill out at home all day if it stays wet.  Pizza (from the freezer) and stream a movie in the evening.

Sunday - Workshop Sunday!  My first in 4 weeks.  I need to stop procrastinating over the F150 Tow Truck and finish off some bits.  I spent an hour on Weds tidying up the wiring but it's still an awful mess, I think the radio needs relocating to one of the side step boxes and some more holes need drilling so I can secure the wires out of the way.  I need to build a simple flashing LED module somehow - not sure if I'll use transistors or hack up a quick Arduino Nano program.  Clean off the 3D printer and print off some light buckets.  Or any of the many other unfinished projects I've got lying around...

Finish the day with a simple meal, a couple of beers and some writing in the studio before going back to the grindstone on Monday.

Have a fantastic weekend, everybody :)
