Friday was ... yesterday? Hello?

So, since it is a long weekend over here (and school holidays for Junior) I can pretend it is Friday today. Or Friday every day for the next two weeks.

Well, it's business as usual, chores mixed with short stints of "something else". The weather has been grey, cold(ish) and rainy the last few days, so I am still waiting for a bit of sun and varmth to get on the 380 Schrott Racer painting.

Junior has been on a Lego kick lately, going back to building stuff, the characteristic sound of someone looking for just that piece in the box ... :)

I've been thinking about setting up a bit of son-and-dad racing lately, and I am scouting out a good place to run. Thinking either 380 or cw-01, but not decided on that.

We'll see what develops ...

Have a great weekend, folks!

It's Friday again, peeps!  What have we all got planned?

It's been a mad few weeks here with various things going on but should be a quiet weekend for me.

Friday - had a few temporal setbacks this week so I have to work until nearly 5pm.  Weather is fantastic right now but rain is forecast for the evening so I might end up having a quiet night in.

Saturday - day with my daughter.  No plans, but weather forecast is bad, so probably just chill at home.

Sunday - possibly get out early for a walk in the hills, then tidy the workshop.  It's well overdue, I've been putting it off for months.

Not really that exciting but is likely to take me all day.

Going out for a meal with wife and child in the evening.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend :)

Friday the 13th....hmmmmm!!! A bad omen for some, just another day for the rest of us!

Friday  - work til around 5.30ish, home for pizza, walk dogs with my friend, go to bed. I get a 45 min lunchbreak where I go into the shed at work that I'm taking over(!) and tinker around with a few RC projects I have stashed in there!

Saturday - Up early, off to work. I'm taking my friends car as it needs a rear coil spring changing, I did the other side on Wednesday evening in the road outside my house, not fun! So putting it up on a ramp at work will definitely help! Then off to see my son, then fish & chips for dinner!

Sunday - Off to Brands hatch for Tuner Fest. Lots of drift cars, time attack cars, and probably lots of Japanese tuned cars on display. Hoping to buy some model cars from some of the trade stands there, really looking forward to it! Only shame is my parents aren't going, so I'll only see my dad in the evening (it's Father's day in the UK!), but it was his choice not to go.....

Hope you have a great weekend whatever you get up to!

Tjis has been an insane week where the parents-taxi (manned by me) have been all over the region and further until almost bedtime every day. So also today,  but in the evening I have the time for myself and plan to fit electronics into a nice 2nd hand M-07R that turned up today. I plan to do some clubbing the coming winter,  so then I want a competent car with excellent parts support.

On Saturday: Go to the dump and empty the trailer from 1 tonne+ with wood. Get a 6 pack with Lundetangen and enjoy the new terrasse in the sun (no, I'm not emptying them all there).

Sunday: Probably a walk along the coast with the family.

Have a wonderful weekend,  my friends.

Friday ... no time, no time ...

And the 13th on top of that!

This weekend is packing for a short holiday trip and then off on Sunday (my birthday and all, spending a bit of time on trains going somewhere is always good by me).

Good to get out from the kitchen-garden-washing machine routine ... it's been madness this week.

Have an excellent weekend, my friends (with beer, beerless beer or no beer)!  :D

(Man, is this TC thing a good spot to hang out and keep sane!)

Happy 17th anniversary to my wife!  I get to spend the weekend carting my son back and forth to a swim meet.  Hopefully I’ll find some time to play with some tires…

A belated thank you, my dear man! It was a good birthday, with an excellent cake (strawberry tiramisu). Not very Tamiya-related but still ... :)

It's Friday again, team!  What are we all doing this weekend?

My plans are still semi-fluid, but I need to make a decision otherwise I'll end up doing nothing and regretting it.

Friday - working most of the day, visit to the Drs this morning to have an old man check on a certain part of the anatomy as I've started getting old man symptoms already (seems fitting that as I was very late transitioning from child to adult, I should be early transitioning from adult to old person)

Tonight will probably be spent sorting out my motorcycle clothing, cleaning my visor, checking the bike and servicing the brakes.

Saturday - currently the plan is to get up at the crack of dawn and ride to Cornwall.  Probably about 3 hrs.  Go for a walk, enjoy the sea air, enjoy life.  There's a heatwave here so it could be very busy, but parking should be OK with the motorcycle.  On the other hand, Cornwall is forecast to be a lot cooler tomorrow and possibly even wet, so it might be nicer than the sweltering heat we have where I live right now.

Probably not get home until very late in the evening.

Alternatively there is a retro motor racing and music festival at Thruxton, which is an hour by motorcycle, although it'll probably cost £100 all-in with food, drink and entry tickets, and heatwave temps with no place to get out of the sun.

If I stay home then I'll have no choice but to continue tidying the workshop, which will be no fun at all in all the heat.

Sunday - hopefully a quiet day in with my daughter, playing video games and relaxing.  She's supposed to be going to see her cousins on Saturday, so she should be exhausted, but my wife has said she won't go out if it's too hot, so possibly my daughter will be bored and grumpy after a hot day stuck indoors at home and want to go out somewhere.  Maybe we'll go on a motorcycle ride together.

End the weekend with some spicy food and beers before work on Monday.

Best weekend of the year for me coming up.....

Friday - out after work with Mrs Twinfan to a local wetland reserve for an after-hours owl and bat walk, with sonar receptors to identify the bats which transmit their echo location signal on different frequencies.  More Mrs Twinfan's thing than mine, but we've done it once before and it's quite a cool thing to do in the dusk and dark.

Saturday and Sunday - the main event: BTCC British Touring Car racing at Oulton Park with support racing including the Porsche Cayman Sprint Challenge.  My most local and favourite racing circuit, which I've also been fortunate to drive on track days several times now (this was on my bucket list).  This year my local Porsche Centre has very kindly provided two tickets for myself and Mrs Twinfan to attend both Saturday and Sunday, and they also include Porsche Hospitality  :o  Food and drink included for the full day, on both days, and a guided paddock tour around the Porsche race teams.  Woohoo!  B)

The weather is going to break tomorrow but I don't think I really care - bring on the end of the working day today!

Awesome!  I watched the BTCC at Thruxton a few weeks ago, it was a fab day out :)

So far everyone is planning for a good time. Friday for me is nothing special, but I should start making plans for future car projects, and that's not RC car projects. Let's just say there is a pretty painted V8 waiting to go in something.

So, here we are on Sunday, so this is in retrospect.

Friday was the start of the holydays for our kids, so we were out eating to celebrate. On the way home from work I ran a pack on the current Postal Racing course with my M-08 Escort, now with a Sport Tuned and a 20t pinion, to get a feeling of how it would be when it is specced according to the regulations for M-chassis racing here (17,5 brushless or max brushed max Sport Tuned with max 20t pinion). On Thursday I ran my newly aquired M-07R, in which I finished the electronics on Wednesday evening. It was so good,  so I was almost flying on clouds after that.

Yesterday: Full day working in the garden,  going to the dump and more working in the garden. It was full sun and around 27°C, so a bit too hot for such heavy work, but what needs to be done needs to be done.

Sunday: Build together a new table for the backyard. After that we are going for a walk at the coast,  before the rain sets in at around 14.

Hope you all have had a brilliant weekend.

Wuhuu, Friday again and the last workday before the holydays begin on Monday. The last weeks have been exhausting at work, so I have been counting down almost on a minute-basis to this day. This is gonna be a semi lazy weekend, mostly going about preparing for the holydays.

- Saturday: Picking up the caravan at the workshop and start packing, fill up with water and chemicals. The car will also get an oil change, so we have fresh oil and filters.

Sunday: Probably more packing. Tidying up around the house, so no loose debries from the construction is flying around when we are away.

Monday: Deliver the trailerload with scrap metal I have ready to the metal recycler. It's nice for once to get paid for this. After that the dog goes to the animal shelter for his holydays.

Tuesday: We are off to spend the first two days in Oslo.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Yes, it's Friday again (again) ...

Today I need to get off the lawn, no, I need to get on the lawn actually, since I have to put two rose bushes in. And it's raining ... bwhaa ... (good, but not good, sort of) so I'll most likely sing in the rain while digging. It'll annoy the squirrels at least.

Other than that, I guess Saturday is going to be chores around the house, and Sunday maybe I'll put the Schrott Racer together and run it as it is, just to toot around a bit.

Have a great weekend, fellows! :)

Happy Fri...  er, Saturday!  I'm a bit late to the party this week, yesterday was absolutely manic at work with some urgent problems to fix, plus I lost 2 hours worktime for my daughter's sports day, which would have been nice if it wasn't so hot.  2 hours sitting outside with no shade, I didn't expect so much heat so I didn't dress appropriately.

Then it was a crazy and frustrating day catching up at work, a colleague got called away on an emergency so we were really struggling to deal with the pressure.

Last night was awesome, though.  I responded to a Facebook post asking for bikers to escort a young man to his school prom.  He'd been bullied at school and his parents wanted some bikers to come along to show the bullies he had some support outside of school.  Well, I think around a thousand bikers turned up, we pretty much brought Swindon to a standstill for an hour.  Had some really nice chats with some random bikers and some fun riding too.

Although, sitting on top of a 1400cc air-cooled motorcycle in 30 degree heat wearing full protective clothing in stationary traffic was challenging.

I stopped for a 5 mile walk on the way home, although it wasn't quite as nice a route as I expected and my mind was on other things - mostly about how AI is likely to destroy my career in the next few years and probably leave the economy in tatters, if WW3 doesn't happen first or global warming doesn't drown us - perhaps I should learn to switch off more :)

Saturday - quiet day at home, chill out with my daughter this morning, then she is off to a birthday party this afternoon so I'll do some DIY I've been putting off.

Sunday - best mate's birthday meal in Bristol.  I might go to the Mendip Hills for a walk first, then meet my friends in town.  No plans for after the meal - maybe I'll go home with friends and listen to some music together, maybe I'll ride home and tidy the workshop, maybe I'll drop in to see family.

Back to work on Monday to see what kind of chaos will come out of yesterday's madness.

Have a great weekend everybody :)

Well, I tend to get bogged down in thoughts like this too - the monkey mind, indeed. :D

Wonderful thing about the biker showup for the boy - love it, how cool is that for support! :)

Ding-ding ... Friday, people!

Gerron up and do the ... garden work? The laundry? Oh no. Been there, done that and now it's Tamiya and coffee time! :)

I hope the caravan norwegians are well, and the gothic bathers are up to the usual shenanigans.

Me, I am probably scheduled for more garden work (weather conditions permitting) and the usual round-the-house during the weekend. I have a Kamtec "Granadus" shell to paint - need to pop off to the big box store and pick up some paint, and I still need to do a head job on Wilhelm "Willy" Schrott. Hopefully, I'll get a bit ahead on that.

So, have a great weekend, fellows!

Happy Friday!

I'm a bit late to the party today, we had a big work night out last night and I woke up to a bunch of messages from Patreon informing me I had to change some things, so all my morning time was taken up with that.

So, what's going on?

Friday - today I had a good meeting with my new line manager at work, then made the long drive home, now I'm getting prepped and packed up for tomorrow.

Later I have to cook a meal, then will probably relax once all the packing is done.

Saturday - up for some early admin, then off to South Hants for round 2 of the BRCA Sportscar Endurance championship.  Our star driver can't make it, and our other driver has also pulled out, so we have 2 junior drivers racing for us.

Spend the day practicing and making setup changes.  Forecast is for cool weather with some rain.

Evening - find somewhere to get a takeaway, then chill out with some beers and watch the sun go down over Hampshire.

Sunday - get woken by morning birdsong and out on track for some practice before we each have our qualifying race (1x 5min session for each driver, accumulated times for all drivers sets the starting grid), and then the main event - the 4 hour endurance race.  Depending on how long our batteries last, we'll probably do 25 minute stints each which leaves space for a 15min sprint at the end.

Head home for the evening to unpack and eat pizza and drink beer before returning to work on Monday.

Have yourselves a fantastic weekend, team :)

Friday again (again), people!

So, it's in the middle of summer in the northern hemisphere, and everybody seems to have gone walkabout ...

Me, I am baby-... sorry, dogsitting and trying figure out where I was, with whatever I was supposed to do. I have to get some coffee and sort my own things out before the weekend chores parade starts up.

Maybe there'll be some RC-related stuff during the weekend - Junior needs some building support (or rather, somebody operating the dozuki every now and then). Instead of grumbling about it, I've come to enjoy the challenge of trying to make a clean, straight cut with a small handsaw on a wobbly workbench.

Apart from that, I have to scrounge around to find an old-school radio (Acoms FM) that is somewhere in the house so that I can fire up one of the on-road cars (MSC included, hoohah).

I am planning a lazy weekend, but let's see how that pans out ... :D

Have a great weekend, fellows!

Happy Friday, everyone!

This weekend I will be mostly tidying and sorting.  There have been some existential crises in the Mad household over the past few weeks, and I figure one of the best ways to deal with this is to start getting everything in order.  I've done a lot of tidying recently and there's still lots more to do.

The drawback is the forecast for 32 degree temps all weekend, which will make any kind of heavy work pretty uncomfortable, especially in the loft space of the workshop where most of the stuff I tidy will have to go.  So I'm playing it by ear, and might spend a bit of time tidying in the house instead where it's marginally cooler.

Friday - work until 2pm, then charge some LiPos while I'm doing a bit of tidying and admin.

I'll be doing my walk late in the evening once the sun has gone over, maybe set off around 7:30 and walk until after the sun goes down.  The big truck with the torches on the roof is still out of action, so I will have to make do with the FJ40 and its weak LED bulbs, or maybe take along a head torch to strap to it.  It's staying light until long after sunset, to maybe I won't need it.

A very, very late pizza when I get back from the walk, unless I've gone past hungry.

Saturday - taking my daughter on her first longer motorcycle ride to see family.  Only 30 mins away.  It could be punishing in 32 degrees wearing black leather, especially if the traffic is heavy, but it's usually cool in the old farm cottage once we arrive.  Spend a quiet day on the farm relaxing, maybe take a side-by-side out across the fields for an hour if it's not being used.

Chill out in the eve and stream a film on Netflix.

Sunday - tidy the workshop, or possibly the office bedroom.  Make a new boot rack out of some scraps of wood.

Depending on how hot it is and how the day progresses, I might go out on the motorcycle in the afternoon / evening.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Quiet evening cleaning the K&N air filter from Mrs Twinfan's car tonight following a swim after work.

One word for tomorrow: Oasis.

Sunday will be a lazy day, I'll be upgrading the motor and ESC in my grab-and-go Lunch Box, then possibly mowing the lawns and cleaning my home office.  Followed by an evening catching up with the weekend's MotoGP racing.

Have a good one folks!
