I guess the battery pack is adequately charged ? . Are both of the motor wire bullets fully pushed together under that tape ? .  Have you tried re-setting the ESC ?

It has been fully charged - but could it be the battery? I only have 1 so will get another to rule that out.

Will also check the wire bullets as you suggested.

No I have not reset the ESC - how do I do that?

Thanks!

-Follow the instructions and re-do the throlle end point setup

-also ensure that the esc is brushed mode not brushless mode

-if check the motor by directly connecting the battery on the motor terminals (watch out as this will give full throttle straight away if functioning correctly

Apparently the red flashing light means the ESC has gone in to overload protection mode which can happen when there’s a problem with the internal BEC.

There has been a few members on here that the Servo (mainly the cheap ones like MG 996’s I believe)  has cooked the ESC too.

I wasn't aware of that . Is this a big thing? . I have one fitted on a model . I bought a bag of 4 of them on a special offer , not had a problem yet , but I'll try to avoid it if this a deffo. fault with them .

I have some as well running with TBLE-02S and never came across issues with those ones... What I can tell, is that most of the Servo I have do consume more than 2A as per my Skyrc Program box which allows to measure consumptions: most cheap servos are between 2A and 3A consumption when they move, which is more than what is specified for the TBLE-2S (1.5A). That being said. with a high torque servo saver and something that locks the direction like a stone, it can definitely be an issue.

While saying this, I would put the BEC out of the story, as both servo and RX still works. It may be something else. I would reset the TBLE-02S, set end points and make sure about the motor setup and retry.

TBLE-02S Instructions says:

  • Flash red/green alternatively : motor is in brushless mode but no sensor cable connected or motor is in brushed mode but sensor cable connected
  • flash red quickly : overload protection activated. let ESC cool down and it will restart automatically

It wasn’t that long ago but I can’t find the thread on it now though.
I’ve got an MG996 that bought to fill an order as a spare at the time which is what made it stand out in my mind.

I think that is the same as mine - can't tell from the video but is it flashing multiple colours all quickly?

My esc would just go into brushless mode randomly, and then sit and flash lots instead of moving. I fixed it by swapping to a different esc.

pretty sure this just happened to me. it seems it can be an issue with digital servos asking for a higher current draw. of course as my battery arrived with deans and i'd replaced the plug i cant warranty the esc even though its a few weeks old. sigh.

I was thinking that myself from reading the set up sheet , wasn't sure if the bl or brushed selection is auto or manual as I don't use those ESCs

I'm not sure. All of mine have come brushless. One was already setup with high points, the other I had to do. I was using them fine until it started resetting itself. I really want a car I can pick up, take out and hoon around when the mood takes me, so I found this a little vexing.

Well this is a good explanation of the thermal protection, it actually appears to render the ESC as useless anyway so not sure how that’s protecting it?...

Having slept on it the issue’s with cheap Servo’s causing problems as I recall someone opened up their MG996 and found that some dodgy soldering inside was arcing. So they cleaned up the soldering and everything worked fine.

I haven’t experienced any problems myself yet with TBLM 02’s but if whenever I ever need to buy an ESC for a kit I tend to go for Hobbywing as they are LiPo ready.

I remember the thread too.  I am one where an MG995 has failed and taken the TBLE-02S with it. I also had a MG995 fail and not take a 1060 out, but made it go crazy with full throttle, stop, full throttle etc without any tx input. Swapped out the servo and the car is now fine.

I've also had a TBLE-02S BEC fail and looked into them and realised that is a major issue for the ESC. They were my goto ESC but have started buying 1060s or Trackstar 80a Turbo ESCs instead

I've swapped out the MG servo to a Futaba with my 1060 to be safe . I haven't had an issue but I've only used the MG servo for a few runs with a 1060 . I guess if there was going to be a problem it would have happened by now .
