Hi everybody,

I'm currently finishing my carbon fiber/purple alu TB01 project (check it out at: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...id=5160&id=632) and still need to choose a body for it [?].

I want to paint the body in Tamiya PS-18 Metallic Purple (backed with white to make it brighter) to make it fit perfectly with the alu parts [;)]. I always hoped to find a Blitz Toyota Supra Group N or a Toyota Toms Supra body (because I think they would look great in metallic purple) but I can't find either of them [:(].

So my question is now what body do you guys recommend me taken in mind that it will always stay a shelf queen, that it must look great in metallic purple and that it must fit on a TB01.

yes I think that HPI makes one, the problem is that I want a high quality/detailed and strong body [:D] for it. I regularly use HPI bodies, for example take a look at my BMW M3: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=5574&id=632

But we have to be honoust and admit that the Tamiya bodies are far better detailed and stronger [^]. So therefor I really would like to get a Tamiya one....

But eitherway thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the tip, do they (Trickbits) have a website or is there an online store who sells their products?

I can't imagine the Lexus in metallic purple [8)] but a Subaru could be nice in purple. I think I'll keep that as my "reserve" in case I don't find anything else [;)].

If someone else has another good proposition please let me know.

Ever thought of using a carbon Skyline body f.e. They are very cheap on Ebay. Think it would look cool on the carbon car.

I just bought a TRF 414 M II and will fit a carbon Skyline body on it. Looks professional !

Hi Koenc,

that's a very good proposition! I never thought of it that way and was to much focused [8)] on the purple... I think I'll launch a search on eBay in the coming minutes to see if there's something nice (and affordable).

In the meantime if there are still other ideas please don't hasitate...

Hi guys,

I just checked eBay and found 3 different carbon bodies. I'd like to have your opinion.

Currently I found:

Ferrari 360

Raybrig NSX 2002

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)

and personally I'd go for the Raybrig NSX 2002 because I thinkt that's the best looking of the three. What do you guys think?

Main problems with the CF-printed bodies are:

1) the windows are printed over

2) they don't have wing mirrors

Just being picky here, but that CF pattern is 1:1 sized too.

Its not really scale 1/10 is it? [8)]

Hi WillyChang

You've got some remarks there [;)]. What concerns the windows you're definitely right but since I never had a CF body before I haven't got a slightest idea about the size of the pattern not about the wing mirrors [?].

IF someone else has the answer on this please let me know...

Ok, willy is right the windows are printed over and there are no mirrors, but everyone ( well most people ) likes hpi shells, and they don't have mirrors on. The carbon ones come with blue decals to use as windows.

as for the scale of the carbon, how fiddly would it be to make it 1:10 scale, it would just look black, and besides who can see it when she's hitting 30mph in the local carpark ? [B)]

i used to have a very bright metallic purple skyline, and it looked the dogs *****, oh that was a hpi gt-r version. I painted it with a clear purple candy, then just silver under that, with a final coat of white. I would try that if i was you, PS a supra would be just as cool. [8D]

Yup, 1/10 "carbon fibre" would be just black with slight metalflake... [:D]

In real life the ricey cars with the carbon-fibre bonnets/wings etc

have the CF pattern in the usual size that we see on RC chassis.

To have the same pattern splattered all over the shell in the same

size, well... its just looks naff.

The Toyota MR-S also comes in the CF print...

Isn't that for the shorter wheelbase chassis though? (TA04SS) - Too short for a TB01 I think.

Hi everybody,

I want to thank you all for the good remarks and advice on this. I thought that the moment was right to make a choice and so I went for the carbon fiber Raybrig NSX 2002. It's coming over from Hong Kong so it'll take probably a couple of weeks.

Today my electric motor for the carbon fiber chassis arrived, a 11x2. So piece by piece I'm getting there...

You're right, and Willy definitely knows too. He surely just wanted to point out that the MS-S is available with CF-print as well, and not that it's suitable for the TB01. Right, Willy?

Hi guys,

my Carbon fiber Raybrig NSX 2002 arrived today [:D], if I have some time this weekend I'll trim it and mount it on the carbon fiber TB01 I'm building. I think it looks very cool [8D]. For those who want to take a look at it, here's the link: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=5160&id=632

PS: if Tomaszken read this: my friend I challenge you for a sprint (your NSX against mine) on the parking lot of M* [:P]. Do you take the challenge? => a box of Jupiler for the winner...

Ehrm... Depends... If you are going to use your carbon thingy with that 11*2 and stuff... then we don't need to sprint for the box o' beer... 'cause you'll win against my OOB nsx... maybe if we both race with a standard 540 motor...

What ya think....

Posted

mmm, you're right it wouldn't be very honoust.

Tell you what, I'll prepare a new body for my standard TB01 (no carbon parts, no alu parts) and I'll race you with that one. We'll make some nice "action shots" to put online [;)]
