TC-01 MS Replica build.

Recommended Posts

Hi

First post here.

I am currently building the Formula E Gen 2 TC-01 chassis.

My intention is to build what in my opinion would be an MS version.

Lots of blue alloy and selected upgrades to improve reliability and performance.

Parts used in the pics are

54760 M-07 rear suspension mount

54787 M-07 rear suspension mount

54957 TC-01 Aluminum steering bridge

54958 TC-01 Aluminum steering arms

54592 TB-04 direct front coupling

54592 TB-04 reinforced gear set

42324 TB-05 Aluminum diff housing

54540 TB-04 steel bevel gear

54533 TB-04 Cross shaft

54543 TB-04 aluminium cup joints

More to come.

Most parts were ordered from RCJAZZ who I've found to be very reliable and with fast delivery.

It does if it is not milled super thin. The advantage of the aluminum housing is the heat conduction, that then will make a more consistent diff on a run.

That diff housing is good looking, but does it not increase weight over the plastic one?

I think you gotta appriciate sometimes rotational mass in certain locations. I guess the weight in that place could just make the car benefit from it.

The Alloy diff is actually about 1.5 grams lighter. Gonna be putting a hot motor in this so wanted more strength over the stock plastic diff gears.

Absolutely LOVE this picture. It's so Tamiya. Blue and over engineered.

Bodyshell assembly time.

A very tricky bodyshell to cut out and paint.

Wow! That's looking awesome. Is it completely painted? Can't wait to see it assembled.

Thank you

Yeah it's all paint, I've got a vinyl cutter so it's easy for me to make stencils for painting logos.

That is stunning.

Do you have any pics of the vinyl masks you made? Interested to know how you would even start with a scheme like that. Is the black and grey parts also paint?

Thank you

The main body was masked with liquid mask, didn't take many in progress pics.

The grey is Aclad2 chrome sprayed after doing the shadows with black.

I'd already painted the logos with Chrome and backed in black in the pic, but you can see the mask still in the centre of the Tamiya stars.

With Sweep TC slicks for the running her. Gonna keep the stock wheels and tyres for the shelf.
