I too had noticed this, just put it down to being sunday, (there's actually 1080 guests on at the moment! )

yer i saw that! i was going to do a screen shot of it but the list was sooo long it would not all fit on the screen!!!

The list doesn't actually show how many people are on the site at that particular second - it actually shows how many people have been there in the last 15mins or so. Even that is not completely accurate as although its easy to track when people come to the site its not that easy to check when they leave.
