TD-4 Super Avante. New Off Road Buggy from Tamiya?

Just watched the Instagram feed. So there are parts for mounting the battery sideways. He talks and shows the battery not fitting with the current body. However that battery is a full length LiPo. So a shorty LiPo will definitely fit sideways! 😉

Thought as much

Now that’s what I’m taking about, the shell looks much better without the fenders imo

And paint other than box art

I was thinking of buying a Team Bluegroove or Sabula Tech repop body for this car, but the stock shell looks great the way this is painted.

That's exactly the reason I'll stick with plastic kit parts. I'm kinda deep into an LC EMB-1, and my only alloy parts are the front knuckles and c-hubs. The logic with the EMB-1 crowd is that numerous alloy hop-ups will transfer crash trauma elsewhere, like A-arms or suspension blocks, necessitating deeper, more expensive repairs when mishaps occur. And they will occur. At least when I'm holding the controller.

I'm a sucker for nice hop ups though. Gonna wait and see some real world reviews before I get one.

I'm just suprised that tamiya haven't produced a set of alloy shocks like the hi-caps or vqs type! or do any of them fit?

According to the Tamiya USA live stream the DF03 alloy shocks are the reccomended hop-up. But that means that most Tamiya buggy shocks should work it seems.

The MS painted one on the image here has TRF Big Bores on it.

It’s looks awesome- seems to run well from the footage, can’t wait to get it. Not sure what I’ll do with the paint scheme and fenders but there is a load of things possible.

Alu Rear SuspensionMount

Probably worth getting this and Maybe upgrading the rear wishbone mounting balls to the hardened type. Less chance of the wishbones popping off in a shunt.

Still showing 21st October as expected and early November on others. Was checking this myself. I’d reckon on early November hopefully and not like the thunder dragon which appeared 6 months later!!

It’s probably sitting inside a gigantic container in one of your ports. This is the case for the US. There are 73 ships waiting at port outside of Los Angeles waiting to unload their containers. Lots of Tamiya product in those containers

So far the major ports are okay here, the issues are delays leaving the port though so it will get worse as container traffic picks up toward the end of the year

I might get one, paint it black instead of blue, and call it a Tamiya Wasp. Quick photo-edit below:

Thank you Tamiya for going back to the fantastic box art, instead of the insipid photos of newer models!

Seriously why doesn't Tamiya ever come up with these ideas. That looks so much better imo. 👍

Has anyone built this and found a rear body fit issue? I'm an experienced modeler. I built it exactly to spec (and double-checked it), and the body simply does not fit the rear mounting posts. It's jammed down and crooked by the spur gear housing.

I found left over 6mm parts that served as perfect spacers. The posts are no longer "keyed" in their positions, but I positioned them by eye and they're firm - not going anywhere. I swapped the 3m x 12mm screws with spare 3m x 18mm screws that mounted them perfectly. The body now fits perfectly.

I'm just surprised, both that a Tamiya kit would have such an issue and that I've not seen a word about this.

My body, cut to the trim lines, fit perfectly with the stock mounts. No adjustment needed.

Any chance of some pics of yours?
