Are you saying this white wheel can be dyed ? Thanks !

Yup

these are the standard white star dish wheels that I used Rit dye on:

IMG_1829

You pop the dye in a bowl of hot water, mix it up, add the wheels and leave them to soak for a few minutes and then take them out and rinse in clean water.

This is the stuff I used:

Hmmm.

So I've got no actual idea if this will work, but I wonder if bleaching them might bring the colour back a few shades?

The way I see it is that it's dyed, not impregnated pigment, so it should act the same as if it were a fabric (polyester is largely similar to acrylic, and it would work on a pair of polyester undies)

Might be worth a try on a spare parts tree first?

Few interesting pics from Modeler Oyaji ‘s latest vid on the TD4, notably aftermarket db02/td4 steel counter gears, not the best screen shot, but brand appear to be Super Rajikon

Then at the Tamiya Race track, he spys this Avante 2021, which I actually quite like.

What do you guys think about 25t pinion with the 79t slipper spur ? That’s a ratio of like 8.216

I’ve a 26 in there, FDR of 7.9 with a target of 8 for my 10.5t motor

Could anyone with a runner comment on how noisy they are compared to your other machines? Trying to decide between this and a DB-02. I was hoping the new gearcase on the TD4 might be a bit quieter than some, even if not as quiet as the DB-02 belt drive.

It’s about the same as my other cars. Do you mean the DB02 Leonis? I thought that car was discontinued. And shaft drive.

Much quieter than the older buggies at least- haven’t run db02 though. The finer pitch of the gears is noticeable. Plus if running brushless it helps.

DB-02 isn’t great for parts which is a problem if you run it a lot.

edit: it’s just a slight bit quieter than the top force on checking it…

Thank you! This is PS-16 Metallic Blue and PS-23 Gun Metal. I'm not a big fan of the yellow but I wanted to try to keep some Avante colors. :)

A friend of mine mentioned that he saw online that someone added an additional support bearing at the bevel gears (that transfer power to the central shaft). The problem is he can't remember where. I'm wondering if anyone here has come across this?

I'm trying to find out more about how it was done.

My TD4 is less noisy than my old Leonis DB02.

The DB02 is shaft drive and quite noisy tbh. The DB01 is a super silent belt system. 👍

Ahh yes yes. I had the models wrong. It's the DB01 (Durga) I was thinking of. They're very quiet in the videos etc.
