Does anyone know what make of tyre this is ? It is similar to the LB / MP tyre , but different tread , and it fits onto a LB / MP wheel . There are no markings on them .

Thanks .

Have a look at this thread by @Nikko85.  It looks to me like the shot in post 2 shows the same tyres.  Maybe they are from an RTR?

Hi Kev

Those are from the Tandy/Radio Shack Hot Machine. It's the model that's also the same as the Intruder, Hot Machine II and a few others. The ribbed tire seems mainly be from the Hot Machine I, the more standard tire from the Hot Machine II. They are a fair bit harder than the Tamiya tires, but still seem good quality. I've also seen some with spikes too - on some Intruder models.

The good news is these cars come up very cheap - (I've spent £5 - 10 per car) and often hardly used. The tires are indeed a perfect match for the LB and MP, as well as the Tamiya QD MT series, which all use the same sizes.

Thanks for the info. The 2 tyres I have here are quite hard and plastic like rather than rubber.  Are the ones you have rubber like Tamiya , or hard ? , cheers.

Hi Kev,

The ones I have a harder than the Tamiya, but certainly not too plasticky either. The ribbed ones weight 128g where as the Tamiya are 108g, so it may just be a thicker rubber perhaps? It does seem like a harder compound, but it's more the stiffness of the whole tire that feels different, more than the texture of the surface, if that makes sense.

The Tamiya one tends to squash - these feel more solid for sure.

I can always swap you a set for your boring old real Tamiya ones! ;)

 . I fitted them onto some Monster Beetle rims and split one of them , so I'll give the idea up - but thanks for the offer .

I'll swap you a set if you have set of 4 of the Duratrax 5240 street tyres  ;)

I've got a completely spare set - so do let me know if of interest - can have for postage.

I tried them out, and they do fit on my QD Pumpkin perfectly!

Thanks for the offer , but I've given up on these tyres as they don't offer much grip , so I'm still on the lookout for the Duratrax 5240 tyres , cheers .
