The pinion tool that makes sure the pinion is correctly spaced does not work with aftermarket pinions so It must be eyballed to fit.

Today I had time for the front gb.

the hop up outdrives are nice, low profile.

the bearings are great, one side rubber and other side is metal shielded.

This day started with the shocks.

The plan was to use yeah racing alloy shocks on this, but they went to my TB-03 build instead.

Nothing wrong with the Tamiya CVA shocks thought.

Used shock slime on O-rings like allways.

Super easy to build these. Added the spacers on shafts but no pic of this sorry.

Oil in and letting the air out. Don’t have time to do more today, so plenty of time for the air to escape.

Just a small update, could not see the Calibra with silver can so ordered Sport Tuned motor for her. Sadly the black ones cost silly money so had to get the silver colored.(so kind of another silver can, lol).

Anyway, cant wait to mod the electrics soon.(will mod the wiring etc on the esc and servo to get a clean look like I like to do :D )

Sadly no inserts on the kit, so thinking of adding some aftermarket ones or just run as it is... or just run solid touring wheels and keeping these n shelf....

Time to open another bag of hop-up’s!

Gotta love Tamiya manuals. No need for calipers.

Nice👍 look forward to the body build.

Have tamiya included all the sponsors decals this time or have they missed off the Michelin ones?

Posted (edited)

Yes thats the tyre decals, does it have the Michelin man ones?

My mistake! I was thinking of another release(Martini Afla 155)which is missing the decals 🙄

I changed the motor and cleaned the wiring a bit. I may shorten the servo lead etc, but there is so much roomn in this tub that I may just leave it as it is.

the on/off switch needed trimming to make it fit.

Coming on really well 👍

Thanks!

Body painted, need to clean the liquid mask a bit more and few parts where paint bleeded through masking. Nothing too bad.

Small update, the correct yellow is available only in brush form, so got something that should look close to that. This is a bit lighter yelow then the decals but hoping it will look decent when finished.

I notice you've not painted the areas where the lights are - have you found some light buckets to fit the calibra body?

Only the wing to decal and installing the bits to shell left to do!

The decals are really nice quality and relativily easy to install, thanks to body having marks in some spots and Tamiya quality.

I forgot, tire decalling also still on to do list. Need to decide to glue or not the tires first…

Decalling took me about 4 hours and one chipped tooth on this one.

If your going to drive it the tyre decals will likely fall off so it might be worth keeping the tyres unglued with the decals on for shelf and another set of disposable tyres and wheels which are glued for running.

Good idea, but I may just put tiny bits of shoe goo on the wheels to lightly hold the tires. Then clean the tires properly, decal them up and drive it a bit. then back to shelf.

New decals are not to hard to find. (even better quality ones).

It has been a while since my last TA-02 build and I was now again surprised by the play that wheel axles have, it is a joke lol.  side to side play about 1mm.

That needs some tinkering before test drive.
