When I got back into R/C cars and realised that I got more pleasure from collecting/ restoring than competitive racing I was directed to the site by stulec52.

Well I made the trek over from Roby's.

One day I was chatting with Stu and he keep telling me about this secret project he was working on with Chris. At one point Stu was telling me how they were going to only open it up to a select few at first. However he would put in a "Good Word" for me[:P]

My how times have changed, now they let everybody in [:D]

This is a geat site and Chris is right this topic shouldn't be about how great he is. badword lets be honest ANY WEBSITE can be great when your compition is EZBoard and the folks at RCMT.net (Just Kidding Chris)

God all the talk makes me miss the old days. Anybody got a spare pop-up add?

I got fed up listening to stulec going on about how great TC is.....and now I'm in and out of here most days!!

I never used to be interested in tamiya .....but now I am, suppose that means the sites good for getting folk hooked on tamiya.

I just found the site through Robby's board, when robby said he had found a new space where to host his database.

I would consider the google ranking disapointing, this might be largely due to the fact that it is hard to make a link to tamiyaclub whereas Google ranking is based on the number of external link.

I do not pretend to start a long thread on the link issue for I know we must accept this if we want to protect the community from malicious grabber, I do believe however that this site would really deserve a top ranking on search engines : usefull information for the new comer, friendly and helpfull comunity, great content, and professional service ( for free :) ).

The whole site has been built to be search engine friendly (believe one this i know about is search engines). The simple truth of why we don't do better on other keywords is because the site hasn't been optimised for those yet. At the moment the pages and site has been optimised for "Vintage Tamiya" which I think we now come No.1 on for, which is a pretty impressive feat in just a year.

Coming top for just the word "Tamiya" is a much tougher job, all the Tamiya official sites like Tamiya.com, tamiya.co.uk will have a distinct advantage here because of thier domain name (and length of time they have been around). That said it is something which I will be actively pursuing over the coming months but dealing with search engines is like wading through treacle - nothing happens fast.

Watch this space.

Well, I just finished my own site, www.tamiya.tk [;)], and was looking for some links to add to my 'links page'. Just followed Theo's site, which I found looking for info on that 'weird blue buggy thing' I got on a flea market... How a 16-year old kid goes into old 'toy cars' is another story... [;)]

On another note: I also always heared stories from my brother who worked in a (ex-)RC shop (where I got my Fighter Buggy, now they sell electric components only). It was about an 'old metal beetle' from my ever favourite brand of RC and I got very interrested. Never realised there were THAT old RC cars! It always had been a mythical car to me as I never saw it, wondering what it would be like... [:)] I always wanted to know more about it as it was something fairly special, but I actually never got to see it as when I aksed again for it after a while I hear it got thrown away! [:(!] [:(] The guy regretted it and felt sorry, but he told me I would likely never find a similar car again, which made me feel gutted but ever more wanting to find out more. The 'metal beetle mystery' will be solved soon though, that will lighten the pain a lot! [:)] Now I can't wait to see the expression on his face when I walk in that store with 'a metal beetle', I am sure he'll love it. [:D] (Now I want to know more about that 'never run Rough Rider' he was talking about [}:)] LOL)

Anyway, though Theo's site I got to Roby's and BlazerFrazers place and shamelessy wrote down all the links I found and liked, and added them to my 'links' site. [:P] I saw this link 'Tamiyaclub.com' and I had to click it... [:o] LOL

The rest is just history... [|)]

I found this site via a search engine. Google to be specific. I cannot remember what I was looking for but it pointed me here.

Very happy to have stumbled onto this too. Bravo Chris!

Well I used to frequent Roby's site like so many other minories in here [;)] but my move onto the club was facillitated by two particularly unsavoury characters by the names of Smith & Leckie who were telling me about this wonderful new site that was in the stages of Beta Testing, after a while I had a bag stuffed over my head and I was abducted against my will and wound up here..... I've been trapped ever since, and no one seems interested in paying the ransom [8)]

I ended up here after buying a car via Ebay off a member, he told me about this great club he had found and that was that, instead of 3 cars I now have 13 with a 14th on the way.[8D]

As a dune buggy lover, i was looking for real sand rover information on google, and found accidentally Roby's sand rover.

looking in his link section, i found Theo's page, and tamiyaclub and many more.

Since them, i was thinking i was the only crazy guy collecting old tamiya RC cars!!!![8)][8)]

My origins where a little more embarrasing. I bought a Cd off ebay containing lots of Tamiya instruction manuals. 79 in fact. Thought i might be able to make a bob or two burning a few copies off.

Relisted them on ebay and got an irate email from a certain Roby who said they where his. Who's this Roby i thought, what does he mean they're his? They're Tamiya's aren't they?

Then I was directed to his site. Oops. 79 Tamiya instruction manuals, all painstakingly scanned by Roby himself, and their for free for all the true enthusiasts.

From that moment i was put on the right track, took the CD's off ebay and made my apoligies to Roby and the people on his board.

From there made the jump to here.
