Ok before you all gimme reasons why its not a good idea!!!...this is only an idea!!!

Ok i love putting as much effort into my cars as possible, and doing things to them differently or what have you. I also like many of you at the club like to show them off and have feedback about them.

SO i was thinking "maybe" we could have a page counter in each of our showrooms, mainly for the person who's shworrom it is, just so he/she can feel satisfied that the showroom is being looked[:D]

Secondly and i really would love this one, is maybe a seperate page, named feedback or something, where people can leave comments and ideas etc etc regarding your cars, or whatever you may keep in your showrooms.

Counters take up no space at all really, and as for the page, if its only text then that wont either.

I realise we have the email thing that you can use, but in "my" opinion this would be a great thing. Make the club feel even more like a community than it already is.

ok, let the onslaught begin...[:P]

I am sure there will be a technical reason why that may not work, andthere may well be a logical reason why it wont, but i cannot think of it... so it gets my vote!

It certainly sounds like a nice idea.

I'm no expert so could'nt say if it's difficult to do, but I bet Chris is thinking "Oh no!! not MORE work!!"

Yeh I like that idea[:D], I use the miniZworld site which is a forum and a separate photo gallery area it tells you how many times your gallery has been viewed and it also tells you how many times each picture has been viewed also allows for comments to be left.

this was talked about a while back. Think the conclusion was that people would end up obsessed by getting hits on their page and then getting some bad feedback and a slagging match would begin between members. Something like that anyway.

Understandable. It would be a pity if it caused arguments.

In order to avoid the argument issue, the comment could be moderated by the owner of the showroom. The basic idea would be to have those comments as private and let the showroom owner publish them (but not edit them obviously...).

I think people like this idea. I personally dont think it would cause arguments. I mean at the end of the day, the cars in my showroom are there becuase i like them. If somebody else has a view i would love to hear it. Possitive/negative or neutral, badword it doesnt have to be any of them, it could be an idea for example.

I just feel that being the crazy about Tamiya bunch we are that feedback should be a fundamental part of this great club.[:P]

Anyone else finding visitors often hit the "eMail" button anyway, just to leave comments or ask questions.

Some are pretty inane... eg last one I got:

"Is it worth the money?"id="size3">

Yeah, no name or anything.

Cryptic. [:I]

I theory its not a bad idea or even that much work, although I think the leave comment option would only be available to members, and as theo says no comments would actually appear on the page until the owner of the showroom had seen them and approved them.

This is where the issues start to arise - as they will probably end up being just full of great comments, which member is going to release a comment to thier showroom which says something like "the paint work on this item is very poor, tires are not original and the decals are badly cut out"? All of the points maybe factually correct.

Also what has been suggested so far would only allow members to comment it would not allow the owners of the models to actually respond, which might mean we end up with open ended questions as the responses are sent back via email. If we need owner responses too we are beginning to get into the realms of 'mini forums' for each car - this is a lot more work.

All that said - I will look into it and see what I can come up with[:)]

For competitive reasons I don't like the idea of onsite counters for visitors to showrooms, basically there will always be someone that abuses the system which makes it all pointless. What I will do it look at making counters which only the owner of each showroom can see, then there would be no point to trying to 'cheat'

I know all the points might seem a bit negative and its easy to think that no one would ever do such things but unfortuantely fact is some people would. I'm all for new ideas like this but only like to roll them out when they have been thoroughly thought through.

Cheers

Chris

Fair points Chris...the counter idea was mentioned as i personally would like to know how often my showroom is visited, but i can see ya point on that one, although they would only be cheating theselves.

I personally wouldnt mind if people told me that there was this and that wrong with my cars. If im happy thats all that matters. On the other hand., as im a newcomer then if there were to tell me its badly painted or decalled wrongly with the wrong tires. I for one would love to know!

But all that said, you are the boss chris, and it was just an idea (a great one though[:D])
