markbt73 5316 Posted July 23, 2021 So I started putting together my Bruiser the other night, and I got as far as step 4, installing the rear axle, and came across some weirdness in the manual. It says to apply "synthetic rubber cement" to the spring perches and axle mounts. Which leads me to the following questions: 1. Really? 2. Why? Is it just to keep things in place to make assembly easier? That can't be what actually holds the axle in alignment... can it? 3. What did other people use, if anything? RTV? Shoe Goo? Wrigley's Doublemint?
RichieRich 685 Posted July 23, 2021 I used shoe goo. I believe it's there just to hold things together so they don't slide around during assembly.

KEV THE REV 2319 Posted July 23, 2021 This on the re-re Bruiser , the OG Bruiser didn't spec this when I built mine . I guess it's to add some 'deadening' / 'cushioning' to the metal parts aswell as the points mentioned before
Saito2 6686 Posted July 23, 2021 I used RTV because its what I had handy.
markbt73 5316 Posted July 24, 2021 Thanks all. Shoe goo it is. It's the only thing I have that isn't blue.
Cynan 520 Posted July 24, 2021 On the 1/1 in the garage the leaf springs have rubber pieces that match where the Bruiser manual indicates to use the rubber cement so I used silicone sealant to replicate the effect. They should have just included actual rubber pieces IMO.
