Is it just me or does everyone keep getting emails "how much will you sell this car for?" through the send feedback about model link. I've just had one from a "9" year old wanting to buy my Terra Crusher for £100, says he's wanted one from being 5. Funny, i thought Terra Crushers had only been around a year or so.

In the last couple of weeks i've had 2-3 people email me about selling my models.

I'M A COLLECTOR NOT A SELLER, IF THEY'RE IN MY SHOWROOM, THEY'RE THERE BECAUSE I WANT THEM!!!!

I'll give u £120 for it?? Let me know.

Na just kidding. lol. U do have a point, I have had 2 emails asking if I will sell my TG10, both of which I quickly replied that if they are in my trades section then sure. but there not, so the answer is a swift no. Even funnier is one actually wanted it as a run about to have fun with. Now I don't know how much I have spent on the car, must be over £1000, but even if I was selling it, I wouldn't sell it to someone who just wanted it for fun, I would sell it to another racer or to someone who i know would look after it. It is a wee bit annoying, yes.

Thanx

Martin, you also had this mail from a 16-year old who liked your cars a lot and who recently got into older RC cars as well... [;)]

I don't get these sort of email a lot, actually... Recently had a reply on my wanted 'ad' in the traderooms regarding a front axle case for the Mountaineer, which goes as follows:

"I can trade my Bruiser for a 1/16 scale Tank"

Ok, that doesn't make sense... Or it that me??? [:o]

As I have been selling of a number of my dupes just lately - it has been pretty good.

HOWEVER : I think that it might be a good idea for there to be some sort of warning just before the email get's sent - actually - probably on the form would be good.

After all - this is why we have a trades section etc on the site??

Over to Chris - as it is he who has to impliment this.

Cheers guys

Hello Everybody[:D]

I'm still here just been doing a lot of that real world working hard stuff, in between that I have been doing 'Dad' stuff and decorating my boys bedroom, which is just about done now luckily enough as I am not sure I could have lasted much longer....

Sorry if I have missed anyone mails.

Darryn, not quite sure what the warning is you want specifying?

I could easily make the 'contact a member' be a members only thing, but originally I liked the idea that anyone visiting the site could comment and ask questions. I'm afraid the will always be people that abuse the system, but I like to think most of them are just innocent questions by people that no nothing about the collector market.

I do know of one or two members that have been contacted out of the blue through thier showroom and made some good deals (on cars they would not have normally offered for sale, but these were offers they couldn't refuse if you know what I mean)

If anyone is having problems let me know.

Cheers

No mate - dont get me wrong at all.........not a problem with the system for me...just thought that it might be an idea if it did become a problem for members - that you could place a "memo" on the email form something like "Items for sale by this seller are in the "trades" section".........

I dont know - something to that effect......[?]

As I said - I dont think it is that big a deal yet......I like the sentiment behind the original idea.......

Cheers

Sorry for any confusion[8)]

I believe it's nice to get some mails from someone interested in our cars. I remember my father spoting ten years ago a citroën DS, absolutely identical to my grand'father one (I would have never believed citroën could make two models with such a ugly color combiation...), he just let a memo on the windshield and received a very nice reply (the guy declined the offer though).

Identically last year in My brother and I spoted in Montlery my father's sports car back in 79. The owner was a very nice guy and he eventually drove my brother back to paris (he did not sell his car either...).

Such stories do happen very often in the forum and that's what makes it a real nice place, hence I don't mind the offers I've received for my celica or my Avante. Anyway it's been only 2 mails, and each time a nice opportunity to start a friendly discussion.

I'm not saying i don't like emails from people who are interested in our cars, its just lately all i get is how much will you sell this car for. I've had lots of friendly emails in the past that i've replied to but they're getting few and far between.

I've just received (30 sec ago) a curious mail concerning my hotshot, will let you know... But maybe some others have already received it.

I get 2 to 3 emails a week asking to sell some of my cars. It doesn't anoy me at all, I just tell them that they are not for sell unless they are in my trading room.

There was one guy who kept insisting that I had to part with my Frog although I had said no so I replied back USD950; haven't heard back from the guy since. [;)]

I have gotten numerous e-mails asking me if I would sell some of my cars. The problem is that what they are worth to me may not be inline with what they are worth.

Maybe we should all type in

"This is definitely NOT for Sale!!"

or

"Owner may be persuaded to sell..."

for our showroom items.

That should stop 60% of the queries.

(but there's still quite a few dense surfers out there[V])

Ive recived lately some interesting mails as well. Most interesting was a guy sending me pics of varios models (mosly 3 speeders) wanting to know how much its worth, or for how much Im willing to pay for the car in the pictures - he wants to sell it to his friends. Not interested in selling it to anybody else!!

at the end of the day is it really that bad having the odd email sayin " how much will you sell it for" or "i will give you x amount for it". Either a short snappy reply sayin no thanks or dont reply would do.

When i get emails like this i usually get great comments about my cars with them.

I've gotten a few asking about one of my cars. I stopped it by adding 'Car is not for sale' in the showroom for that car. No big deal (but I don't have 100 highly desireable cars either).

I get often those emails, also before TC because of my site, the only ones that annoy me are people just writing "How much for the xxx?", no hi, no name, wouldn't sell to those people not even for triple prices... [:(!] But as Chris said, once I got a nice email offer for a car I didnt have for trade but didnt mean much to me which I couldn't refuse [;)], so its not that bad...

i had that exact same email.

i'll admit to emailing people asking if they wanted to sell their ss, purely because i love them.

It would be ok, if someone was to email me telling me they though my car was very cool, or looked the business, but to email me and ask if I am selling it as they want a car to have fun and bash around with, thats just crazy, especially when I listed all the parts i had for the car on the description of it. If he had emailed me asking if I were considering selling my TG10, then I would have replied back, something very sensible and proper, just to tell him I wasn't selling it at this precise moment. Although I am going to be selling it soon. [8)][8)].
