Subaru Rally Blue

Recommended Posts

I'm about to paint my '99 Impreza and I have a paint question. Which of the following is best:

1- PS-16 backed in white backed in black (I want to back in black at the end do we can't see color through the wheel arches etc)

2- PS-16 backed in silver backed in black

3- PS-16 backed in white backed in silver backed in black

4- other?

Thank you!

I used ps16 backed with black, with black and blue wing. It seemed to be a nice shade of blue.

I like it!

I was searching for the most scale-exact hue (which might be a tad lighter?) but now seeing yours I'm wondering if I might not do just that. I'm by no means a Subaru expert 😂 but I like that generation of Impreza, I really liked it when it came out.

Hi, this is also ps16 (one complete can, several layers) backed with black (not a full can, just 2 layers, looks solid though). I wouldn't make it brighter. What I don't like sooo much is the ps gold on the wheels, it's a tad too saturated for me. Probably ts gold is better. Below is the real one. To me it's close enough scalewise. Cheers

Pretty sure this is not what you needed but that is a PS-16 only shell done way back in 2009 and very trashed now. (Ignore the Ford in the picture, that is PS-59)

Greetings...  The reason the wheels lookoff is because they need to be painted a satin bronze, Thats the color on the real car... Make sure its is first based with a standard black,  Then finish coated satin bronze then it will match the 1:1 car perfectly.....

Thanks for the pictures. Looks good and I will assume the '99 1:1 cars had the same as the earlier liveries above ('07 is it?). I think the key is to get enough PS-16 coats to obtain full color "saturation"/opacity and then it looks perfect. I will back in black mainly to hide what might be visible of the body through the wheel arches. I will use TS-21 Gold for the wheel, best scale match in my own humble opinion.

I backed mine first with silver and finally with black. Makes the metallic effect really pronounced. The wheels are Citadel Retributor Armor as that was the gold spray I had at the time, it looks quite nice.
