Question for the older hands here - How does one 'insert' photos DIRECTLY into these message board threads?

I tried to do it in an earlier thread, because a certain photo would have illustrated my point well (a picture speaks a thousand words!). I can see a little 'Insert Image' button on the 'compose message' screen, but it only results in some HTML and I want to put in photos, relevant to topic, from my hard drive.

Help anyone?

As they say it's easy when you know how [:D]

ok here go's

first take your pictures

1 Digi Cam

2 ordinary Camera

Digi Cam is easy as they save as Jpeg and can be downloaded to your PC

ordinary cam pictures need to be scanned (so the image is on your PC)

once the picture is on your PC you need to upload the picture to your own web space (you get free web space when you sign up for internet access or you could use some where like Yahoo to host your pictures) once you've uploaded your pictures make a note of the URL e.g.

http//www.host/username/098765432.jpeg

http//www.geocities.com/username/mycar.jpeg

these are different for different hosts

ok you've got the URL for the picture

if you want to link the picture in a post click the insert picture and it gives you [/img.] without the .

copy and paste your address in between like

http//www.host/username/098765432.jpeg[/img.]

without the .

hope this helps [:D]

The short answer is you can't just post it from your hard disk. As ShenUK points out that you need to have it hosted on a web server somewhere. Free hosting sites are great for this but usually are painful to publish actual web pages on due to the annoyances of Pop-up/unders and other advert rubbish.

Many free webspace providers (think also geocities) dont allow crosslinking only to pics, they wouldnt show up in an external page...

If you have a showroom its easier to put it there and link it in the forum as explained above...
