Not sure if there is an intro thread or not - didn't see one. I am a member at a different RC site. When I joined it earlier this year I only knew the RC word "Traxxas", because I bought my grandson a Stampede for Christmas a couple years ago. Well he wanted someone to run with him and I did not have one. However earlier this year we were going through old crap laying around and in the attic I dig out my oldest sons Traxxas monster truck, a T-Maxx Classic 2.5. That is when I joined a forum to gain some knowledge. Well I got that froze up engine running tweaked and adjusted and she runs like a champ. Then we were going to the lake and I bought the grandson an electric boat. Then I recalled my oldest son had a boat in the attic as well. Its a Kyosho, Nitro Viper GT, .16 engine - which I need a recoil for BTW. That engine was froze up too, but it is ready to run once I find that stupid recoil for it hint...hint.....ended up digging out a couple others, an electric and another Nitro. Then lo and behold I grab a bag and it is just full of parts and pieces, all took apart. So I start looking at the puzzle pieces and it is a TA02T with the S10 body. I have it almost ready to roll, but I need just a few pieces I could not find. I ordered a couple I could find online but need to keep sniffing around for a couple smalls. Anyway - off on a 4-day fishing trip tomorrow with work buddies; but, I will return. Just thought I'd say hey - so, hey.

Welcome WideOpen, sounds like your attic is a treasure trove!

If you need random bits and pieces be sure to post up a thread or even ask in this one, you might be surprised as what people have stashed away.

One thing I did but wish I hadn't done was used some RC Marine grease on the gears - think that is a big deal?

Yeah, that will be too heavy and will cause unwanted drag. I'd clean it off and use some ceramic grease instead, you need very little on well-meshed gears.

Welcome to the club - plenty of TA02T bits still floating around on the web so you should be able to get it running easy enough

Hey @WideOpen, welcome, wish my loft was like yours ! There's been a fairly recent release on the TA02 chassis which might mean parts supply is helpful to your quest

BTW, if you go back in your loft one day and find a shiny box that says Porsche 959 on it, it's worthless, I'll get rid of it for you

With a standard 540 silver can I always use a little damper oil. It's literally all you need imo.  👍

Hello WideOpen, read you had some RC boats, Nitro?

I haven't in a while but learned a great deal on electrics at OSE(Off Shore Electrics) started with a Pro-Boat Stiletto and the rest came, 18 later, some ARTR, some kits, some remodeled, oh and one submarine, i never got into gas or nitro, do love the sounds and smells. i did have a Kyosho ABS hull in the 80's ran a Trinity Monster brushed motor with my Makita stick batteries, those days are long gone.

Well have fun on this site. i know  it's one of the greatest forums in Webdom.

Welcome to TC @WideOpen, great to have you.

Your post seems pretty RC-related... not sure why you decided to put it in the "Anything not RC related goes here" section :)

ya, it was intended to be an intro for myself and I ended up gabbing about RC stuff.

Yes, it is a Nitro Boat. I do also have an electric one, but the Nitro, I need the recoil for it - otherwise it is a shelf queen.
