How about a new forum that you could discuss the car additions you placed in your showroom. The current way is good with the feedback button but all of your dialogue is done in offline on e-mail. Having a place to dicuss it on the forums would be better. I have recieved e-mails that had the same questions about a particular part.

You create a forum that people can post a topic like "hey check out my restored fully aluminum Striker." you could 'splain more about what you have done to it. Talk about how you had a machinist recreate every part in aluminum because the price of strikers is going to go through the roof in two years and you wanted to have the most unique striker out there. This way the dialouge is on the board rather than on private e-mail. This will encourage more discussion about your entries. Since it is something to read about people might get interested in car that they wouldn't normally give a second thought to.

I for one think this is a great idea! I’ve also received a number of e-mails asking the same questions concerning a couple of items in my Showroom. It would be really nice to have a place to post the FAQ.

Anyway an excellent idea! Hope to see it soon[:D]

I think the idea has legs, but its going to need more thought.

I'll look into it, but I would want to but some sort of strong tie into between the showroom items and the forum thread (more than just a typed link) Lots of people visit the showrooms and never ever venture into the forums. It would be a shame for these people to miss out on all the extra information in the forum.

I guess when I wrote the edit facility of the showroom items, I thought people would put a lot of the information you mention in there. If they were asked questions then they could update the info in the showroom, this would then build up into a large amount of comprehensive information in the one place - without having to read through long threads to get the info they want (and it would stop people asking you the same question twice)

In the meantime there is nothing to stop you posting "look at my new Striker" type threads in the forums as it stands - some people do it already.

Cheers

How about a forum link/button on the showroom page?

Something like "discuss this model with like minded loonies"[B)]

I put up a couple of cars together once, and received a mail with "was it really worth the hassle, they're only £100 in the uk"

Even though I replied to the mail, I never got a response and I still don't know which car the mail was referring to, or who it was from, but a link to the forum may encourage people to post queries there instead.

Chris,

I would like a link that would dump into a readers-rides forums. It would have the showroom link and it would be up to the poster to start talking about it. Would would even be cooler is if it would take the write up for that car and put it in quotes if the topic is started.

I really like the idea of Shodog, this would probably generate more feedback and discussions since everybody can see the posts and the answers. If we have to vote for it, you've got mine...

I like the idea, especially in addition with a button in the showroom which would lead to the dedicated (new) discussion forum. One of the main reasons for an extra forum is, that I find it properly not searching in messed up posts. The "Click here to send feedback about this model"-button is not bad in principle, but my experiences (only less) with it aren't that good. The mails you receive do not point to a model, and you have to check very intensively to dig what the requester wants from you, if you dig it at all. Not everybody is reading and thinking that he puts the topic into the feedback.

Just my opinion

How about each car in the showroom gets it's own dedicated thread which shows up then the showroom entry is entered? So, the tread would be a part of the showroom entry. Have a notification system so the owner of the car so they know if someone has added to the thread.
