Bus mechanic. Pretty self explanatory really, but it's getting more interesting since we now have 15 new Hydrogen powered FCEV double decker buses. Our old Hydrogen FCEV single deck buses back in 2014 was older technology and since have been retired.

James.

IT guy. I currently help run a Cloud Foundry platform for a large global bank. It's soul crushing work to be honest, but it pays well and I've been able to acquire Kits like the Avante and Egress that my 12 year old self only drooled over in Tamiya catalogs.

Seal team errr,  scratch that... I do have a job , not self employed but it rather not disclose it. nothing secret but the company is like many with generally mediocre pay wages where they can get away with it.

I’m an aircraft mechanic by trade , but currently serving as the training manager for shop I work in. I’m about to transition to civilian life in a  few months so what what I will do to supplement my pension is TBD.
That said, my RC hobby is almost solely funded by fixing and selling lawn mowers and bicycles i rescue from the curb ( though I sometimes spend non junk picking money on RC )

Publishing. I design children’s books.

Interesting thread, it’s interesting to see what people do, at the same time everyone has a common bond.

Summer: deck chair attendant

Winter: retail Father Christmas operative

But seriously. What my firm (I mean employer, it doesn’t belong to me)  does is best described as

‘if you have a [insert compliance / complaints] problem, if no one else can help, and if you [I mean we] can find them, maybe you can hire…’ a team of specialist contractors whitelabled under your own banner.

Aerospace Engineer. Only practiced three years in the mid 90s after graduation and shifted to pursue DJing (was already DJing when I was in college) and audio engineering. Still doing club/restos/bars system designs and installations. But since the pandemic started, business has been slow in the installations. Currently running my small Technics refurbishment/services company (since 2005). Also running a small vinyl record/DJ/Audio gear shop out of passion with some close friends as partners.

If I didn't pursue all these, I would have been a Naval fighter pilot which was my ultimate dream. Now that's a different story. :)

My family (with the exception of my wife and child) refer to me as wasted potential but my official job title is "loser". I do have past work experience as an idiot however.

Interested to see what line of work my fellow club members are in that allows us to bankroll our Tamiya urges :D. I'm sure we'll get a wide variety of answers but we all love Tamiya! I'll start... I'm in law enforcement.

Nice thread!

It’s really interesting to see what we do for a living and some funny comments as well 😂

I'm working as an auditor for one of the Big 4 . This allows me to fund my RC enthusiasm as well as getting some free time in the summer months (this compensates the fact that between January to almost May, I have to live for my work)
