tamiya citroen 2cv rally - Dirt tuned motor

Recommended Posts

I was about to install the Yeah Racing 20T pinion gear when I noticed that it looks smaller than what is in the manual.  Not sure if it is ok to install or not.  I have uploaded a pic.  Any help would be awesome!

Thanks!

Oh yeah... one other thing.  For the Citroen... should I install the oil dampers I bought from Yeah Racing or stick with the dampers that came with the kit... was thinking based on some of the pics in this thread the actual cars looked kind of loose so just wanted to know your thoughts.

thanks!

To check if the instructions are 1:1 scale or not, take the kit 16T pinion and compare it to the drawing. If you have calipers, you can measure the diameter, teeth to teeth, it should be over 15mm, but below 16mm.

The 16T does match perfectly.  I wanted to get a metal gear... can't seem to find one.  Might just have to go with this....

Turns out it is 13mm.

I suspect that website might be wrong. According to this one, it should be 13mm.

However double check on which one is right by measuring your kit 16T.

Is it 10mm? Then the second website, and therefore your 20T is correct.

I'm wondering if the pinion gear that came with the kit are maybe a proprietary size??

No, they are 0.6mod. I had built two M chassis and they are both 0.6mod, and I don't think I had ever measured pinions against the drawings or otherwise, just buy the right mod or dp and stick them in.

So... when I got a measurement of 13mm for the 21T it was with a friends digital calipers.  I just measured it with my new non-digital calipers and got a measurement of 17mm.  The 16T that came with the kit is 13mm.

Sorry for the wrong information.

thanks!
