How long do battery chargers last ?

Recommended Posts

I have a Dynamite Twin Peak battery charger that is about 11 years old. It still works and seems to charge my nimh batteries but how long would you expect a battery charger to last? How old are your guys chargers that you still use?

My ~13yo charger recently died, I tried to revive it but couldn't, until I tried again a few weeks later and succeeded. I'm not sure how long it will last but I'd say if you're getting a decade or more out of almost any electronic device these days you''re doing well.

I have a KO Propo BX212 Advance I used in my racing days from the late 1990's that I still use to charge the very NiCd packs I made and ran.  Works perfectly.

For NiMH usually charge off a Dynamite Prophet Sport Duo since 2014(?) and for LiPo I use another higher end charger by Dynamite, but I forget the name as I mounted the BX212 on top of it and can't see the name of the charger..    I've used that since 2014 or so too.  They all work as they should.

My guess is they last 10+ years usually, perhaps longer if you get a higher end one.   But I am sure there's some level of hit or miss as most of these are made in China these days and there is a wide range of variability.
