Holiday Buggy Rerelease In July

Recommended Posts

got to agree with TA-mark.i think there should be a 5th and sixth comic square....5th showing kid (with better reactions than me) being bored by lack of speed vs handling..6th showing kid scratchin his head wondering why its driven by a cowboy and looks the way it does?

i do get the idea tho...the orig was an entry into R/C...i think the generation gap makes the choice of look seem as odd as the whole model.

its a good formula tho..im sure Tamiya do need to attract new buyers but not sure if the HB 2010 was the way to go?

It's too old fashioned to be liked in mass numbers by young 'uns, and it's far too removed and altered from the original release to be of much interest to the 30 somethings that the rest of the re-re's are marketted to.

I just don't get it.

BTW I was thinking that maybe Tamiya no longer have the original mold for the front and rear tyres anymore?

Cheers,

Alistair G.

I put this question to my 4 boys, ages 9 to 16. Showed them pictures of all of the DT02 range. Two chose Desert Gator and the other two chose Sand Viper. The resounding comment about the HB2010 was "What's with the 'olden day' car on a buggy chassis?" and some unmentionable comments about the cowboy driver (think brokeback mountain). Maybe my kids are not an accurate 'beginner' perspective having been playing with RC since they were about 5yr old.

LOL. fair enough

This will actually be the first car i´m getting for, perhaps two years. Theres been so little time for r/c for a looong time. I like the looks, and the price seems right.

Bargain car! Looks good, will handle well, be strong and is able to be quite sucessesfully modded. I hope Tamiya keep it up and stop releasing dull old exact re-releases on the future. I don't think I can handle 100's of pages of moaning on how a wheel arch is slightly different  at least this car doesn't pretend to be an exact replica.

And it's got a man with a cowboy hat! Aw3sume!

I actually don't like the new Holiday Buggy, but for US$60 the piece, I'm going to buy 1 and dash this sucker to death!

i am really looking forward to this one

it's a little fruity looking, with those speed holes and wide track, but i already have my new original holiday buggy wheels and tyres.

and i know how to pull the track in.

only concern is filling the holes and altering the front end. shouldn't be much trouble though.

so mine is gonna look nice, anyway.

does dude's bonse come prepainted? or i did i dream that?

Tempting to just make a fake brain, leave the hat off, stick a couple of bolts in his neck and call him "Frank".

More piccies. Not that I needed converting but the box art just makes me like this kit even more. I'm convinced that if there had never been an original Holiday Buggy everyone would be raving about this.

Man, this dude has some serious ugly going on! It looks like he's in pain, but afraid to say anything for fear of being discontinued or something.

I'm not going to buy one, but I am looking forward to seeing pics of how other people 'fix' this car.
