Tamiyaclub Winter Drive 2002 - Nov. 24th

Recommended Posts

Netsmith was going to post this topic, but seeing as he hasnt yet and im bored, i'll make a start.

I know a few of you lot are from around yorkshire(blondiniboy, me, cooter, mooplea, netsmith etc etc), so if we make a date for it that we can all accomodate, then we could have a good turn out.

First of all, we need to sort out a location that easy for us to get to, and secondly a date.

I dont want it to be too soon, i wana get my clod running first, and one of my scorchers, and maybe my sand rail too(for some jumping!!),

who's up for a meet then???

i think it would be cool if some people could bring old bodyshells that are wrecked, and we can make a monster truck course.

ive got the lunchbox thats nakkered, that can be used to wreck even more and also use it to get some air!

Any cars welcome, tamiya or not.

any suggestions forlocation?

cheers

Joe

I'm up for it!!! Can i bring the Terra Crusher!!! icon_smile_big.gifWould be great to give the SS a run against a few other old timers as well. Not sure on a location, it'd have to be somewhere not to rough though. Any BMX tracks anywhere?

How about this.

We all meet up at a place called Clumber Park, near doncaster, just north of the midlands. Fairly central to the whole county. Big park, was used for one of the stages of the RAC rally a few years back so terrain is fairly ideal, mixture of tarmac, gravel and dirt tracks. Make for some great photos. Load of pubs. Very close to A1.

Clumber Park sounds excellent to me, ideal RC buggy terrain and only 25 minutes from my house!! icon_smile_big.gif

That sounds cool, but when are we thinking?

In a few weeks might be too late because of the bad weather, then again not right soon cos i wana get my cars running!

maybe we could have it later this year, it would just mean a bit of mud bogging and sliding.

mind you, that sounds ok to me!

and how long for?

morning to late afternoon would be cool, time to have dinner and charge some batteries.

cheers

Joe

OK, The date is Sunday 24th November. (Only daye Stulec can make, and its going to be a long time before we see him again - so figure we should make the effort)

Hopefully that will get everybody time to get ready and also we might be into the frosty season so could make for interesting rides.

Put it in your dairies - time to be arranged

ok, my scorcher will be running then, and also got the shell from blondiniboy, that will be put on a chassis aswell, and hopefully running.

sand rail also.

clod......HOPEFULLY!

i am keeping it in 2 wheel drive configuration to have longer run times.

that date sounds cool.

look forward to it!

It can be what ever you want it to be - I'll certainly be bringing a truck load of NIP parts/tires etc for sale, plus the SS repro decals, and what ever else I can find to trade.

Be bringing runners to, maybe a couple of shelf queens

and a camera of course.

ive never been to clumber park......whats the setting like?

will they mind us running the cars, and setting up a small monster truck course?

i'll bring all my cars, runners and unfinished cars.

with a bit of luck, my custom clod will be up and running in time, just been outside and welded up the main frame.

The custom links for the suspension will be made tomorrow, at college on the lathe, when they are fastened on it should stand alone without supports for the chassis.

Ordered a early 50's proline chevy panel van, that should be here in a week.

then the roll cage welded on, and the electrics in.

Is anyone able to bring some scrap shells?

hard plastic is better, but anything will do, preferably touring cars/trucks/vans.

Cheers

Joe

Will there be a building so we have cover then?

Or is that the pub?

Its a huge park - there will be no problems running the cars there.

Finding cover might be a bit more difficult. As far as I know there is nowhere in the park with shelter - apart from under the thousands of trees. Nearest covered area will be the local pub - name escapes me for the moment - maybe thats where we should meet? Have a beer do some trading in the car park and then off into the park for some fun.

Sounds suspecious to me. A bunch of guys from across the country meeting at a pub car park. Buying things out the back of each others motors and then all dissapearing off into the woods... You have to laugh don't you!

I'm sure the pub is called The Clumber Park Hotel, its on the main A614 that runs along the side of the park, about a mile from the A1 roundabout.

The park is massive, they used to hold single stages of the RAC rally here.

Thats the place, the park is on the left of the A614 as you look at that map, it surrounds the long lake. The small white road above the lake is the longest double elm avenue in europe. (Bit of trivia for you there, so its not a wasted journey)

I dunno about you but... I'M SOLD!!! icon_smile_big.gif

I will definatly be going, and Im planning on taking as many of my runners as I can realistically Cram into my modest little saloon car.

Clumber Park Eh? Ironically I was up in that neck of the woods just the other week when I went to Barrow Hill, which is just north of Chesterfield and just the other side of Junc 30 of the M1 from Clumber Park.

A friend of mine whos also into Tamiyas but NOT a club member might tag along with me on the day, and perhaps my cousin Trabbidaz as well if hes not working that weekend.

Im considering getting a few more of my cars running for the day, I have enuff spare componants to make 2 more radio sets up and I might buy a few more sets.

it will be worth going just to see Stulecs ugly mug before he Emigrates icon_smile_evil.gif

anyway heres an Idea, provided you can get enough ppl attend this little get together why not take a groupe photo with all the users holding one car from their collections and them post the pic on the Tamiyaclub home page the day after!!

Just Make sure you Bring your TXT-1's icon_smile_wink.gif

Hi,

Wldnas has just e-mail me about this meet. id=size6>

I'M GOING!!!!!!!!!!!id=size3>

Just checked my work rotor & I'll be there with anything I can cram in the car!

It will be so nice to meet all the people I've done deals with etc.

And to give the cars a good thrashing!!

Might be selling some stuff as well if that's ok? I need to thin my collection a little.

I think I'll take my Fox,TxT-1,Madcap,Boomerang,Hi-lux MR & Optima MID.

Oh that reminds me, I'll try & get my Egress runner sorted as well!

Plenty to prepare!

Can't wait!icon_smile_tongue.gif

I've just loaded the journey into AutoRoute 2000 and it say's it's 147 miles away and will take me 2 hours 15 minutes(if I go over the speed limit slightly).

I might need a bit of 'arm twisting' from you guys, but would love to come.

Hi

I've just got a Terra Crusher, so I'll be bringing that too. At this rate I'm going to need a trailer.

For those of you that can't make it, if this goes off ok we will hold the Spring Drive in another part of the country - maybe a little further south.

Cheers

Chris

further south sounds good to me. I would love to come but its a long way to come for just a day. As long as people post loads of pics that will be the next best thing.
