New Srb Hopups

Recommended Posts

OK with the announcment of the Sand Scorcher and with the Buggy Champ seemingly having sold well has anyone spotted any new Hopups. I know Ra is working on the diff for us but I want Cages, Nerf Bars, Nylon arms, wheel track wideners new bodies shock upgrades etc....

Anyone know any companies out there?

Cheers

Paul

The Scorcher should be out in February or so I've heard, and I should have my shop set up by mid-January, so...? I do plan on some CNC'd goodies for this, as I've waited a LONG time for it to be available! I will see what's up once I have one in hand, but some ideas are things that have been done, but done better: Dummy motors/exhaust, suspension items, chassis parts, wheels, etc. Also a couple things I'm keeping to m'self for now....I'm very open to suggestions also! Cages, etc. sound like a good idea, but tubework isn't my strong point. I'm sure as the release gets closer we'll be hearing from a few chaps who plan parts, should be interesting! Hi there,

Heres my short list of top wants... I would like nylon arms and front widened by 50mm plus rear axels that allow widening and other wheel attachements?

I'm currently working on a pattern for a simple (read cheap :( ) vacuum formed VW engine to suit Sand Scorchers, Grasshoppers and Frog/Brats - more as it happens B)

No ofence but visual stuff in this instance does not do it for me, I want racing upgrades. I know its never going to win a modern race but I want it as close as a high performance buggy as possible. Back in the mainsite under

Reference -> Vintage Media -> Leaflets and Misc you have

ARS cage & nerf bars SRB hop up

RCH Instructions for Nylon Aftermarket parts for SRB`s

Thorp SRB ball diff

Then look under

Reference -> Vintage Media -> Reviews

After more speed - awsome set of gearbox upgrades really useful for todays brushless motors

MIP 4 x 400 - 4wd Scorcher!!!

Rough Rider Revisited - I have the rear cage shown here but want widners and anti roll bars etc...

There used to be a ton of stuff to make this old tub faster and I would like to re-live those times.

I think the problem there is, all those go faster parts are only going to appeal to a tiny minority of people now. As witnessed even on here amongst the enthusiasts & die hards, most people want the show & not the go (particularly), therefore the market for parts like that will be extremely limited.

Whilst a few people are producing ball diffs, that's relatively easy compared to moulded nylon parts which require specialist tooling.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see parts like that reproduced, but I just don't think there's a big enough market to make it viable & if people can't make money out of those parts, they aren't going to invest in the setup costs, even if they do have access to injection moulders etc.

The faster you make it go the more you'll break.

I think it's better suiter to a fun runner and need not be fast as there is a lot of weak points when speed is increased from near stock.

Now THATS what I am talking about

C'mon MIP, CRP rise to the challenge

These parts are awesome!! Looks like they are trying to compete with RC Channel (which is also awesome)..

I am still in contact with Eustace Moore of MIP - and he is still strongly considering/guaging which MIP parts to release first.

One of those parts would be the ball differentials and perhaps the re-re of the 4wd conversion.

Eustace is passionate about the hobbies history (as most of us are too) B) - and would love to know what people want the most.

Did that a while back - just 5mm stainless rod, died and drilled with a flat filed on the end for the UJ screw

That is awesome news ! Times are just getting better B). (Get him to pump out some rc10 4wd conversions too) I figured most of the aftermarket names wouldn't be interested in re releasing.

Thats the great thing about Eustace - talking to him, he really loves this hobby, and is very interested in its history as well!! The fact that he has had alot to do with the aftermarket stuff that we all drool over makes it even more exciting. Eustace also mentioned to me that he is not interested in making things rediculously priced either......thats refreshing for sure. I suppose the biggest thing is going to be the numbers game - like any business - its about the numbers. I know one thing for sure though - the time has never been better to get on the Rough Rider/ Sand Scorcher hop up trail!!

I reckon those trailing arm rear end kits and the ball differentials would be killer items - would be a dream to see a cable conversion re-release - even if I do have one new in packet original myself!

As far as the RC10 goes - obviously that is one of the most important cars to MIP and the news is potentially even better there!

The fact that MIP is probably the oldest and amazingly the longest surviving aftermarket manufacturer is a great thing for the vintage scene. If we can get some of the more fancied products coming out - it all helps our vintage community grow - Tamiya releases more old cars - aftermarket manufacturers can see a potential market for some of their previous designs....its a beautiful thing. :P

Cheers

I'd like to see a new back cover that has cut outs for the tabs on a Brushless motor. A Novak Brushless slides right into the motor housing and the pegs line up with the threaded holes on the motor can. All that is needed is a back cover to hold it in place. The stock one can be modified to fit, in fact one of the holes for the wires lines up perfectly with the sensor wire on the back of a Novak.

In the mean time I may just secure it with a strap going across the end bell and 2 screws.

I've seen some SRB skidplates on a well known auction site, they look pretty nice and cover the gearbox perfectly. Some of this other stuff sounds very interesting though!
