I had a Rough Rider in 1981, ran it into the ground, re-built it as a Sand Scorcher which lived a hard life and disappeared some time in the late 80's. I have finally found a Rough Rider on e-bay that speaks to me, (And i could afford) and i am now awaiting delivery. I am looking forwards to stripping it down and re-building it as a runner, not to sit on a shelf. To have some fun basically, whilst up-grading the motor and bearings and stuff - bits i could not afford in the good old days!. I know that the black tubbed cars that came later are faster etc, but i just love the engineering of the Rough Rider and all the metal parts involved. the new ones just do not do it for me. must be my age!........................................................................................OK, scrub the last comment. just as i bought the roughrider a friend came out of the closet and sold me a super sabre. stripped it down, ballraces, fast motor, esc, quick spray job, now new tyres, 4500mAh pack...............rough riders were never like this!!! wow!. using it for fun and games. when i had my original the pack lasted about ten minutes. i now have an 80's Hornet to use as a sand scorcher type thing with a Kamte body, and a sand rover which i am working on now. I am going to turn it into a Gorrilaz style Geep, and am working on a driver to suit. also i have got a Shaun the Sheep 1/12 Landrover kit from Airfix for christmas - when i work out how to fit four wheel drive and full suspension into the body i will post..........................oh, and the rough rider, i am doing what i did not want to do...........polish, polish, keep on shelf and gaze lovingly at it......bliss!

so i have gone from 0 to 4 cars in a few months. and loving my new found hobby all over again. praise be to ebay!
