My parents bought me a Hornet for my birthday in the mid 80s and I bought a Blackfoot in the late 80s with the money I saved from a holiday job during the school summer holidays. A friend had a Tamiya Fox and I remember him being surprised by how much faster my Hornet was although I had ballraced mine and his was stock. I was also very fussy about maintenance and keeping the gearbox lubed and everything free running. I dont know what happened to my Tamiyas. I probably swapped them for a 10 speed racer I remember having towards the end of my school days. Now after many years of being a keen cyclist (maybe the swap was worth it after all) I'm getting interested again and keen to recapture some of the fun I had when I was a kid. But could I face playing with buggys in public at 40+???
