I was lucky to find someone willing to sell me this as a nib kit.

I live in Johannesburg so unfortunately it isn't Table Mountain, that's in Cape Town. I do like the look of the Mountain in the background. This is where I stay.

This is the original 1/10th scale rc version from 1992. It runs really well. I don't know why Tamiya only made it for such a short production run. It comes with a Transmitter and Receiver / Speed Controller (C.P.R Unit as Tamiya calls it). The transmitter is powered by batteries but the car is totally solar powered including the receiver. There are 3 capacitors to help keep things going if the sun disappears behind a cloud for a few minutes.

I think it does about 12-15 km per hour, maybe even 20 in strong sun light. It great fun as there is no battery to go flat, as long as the sun shines. It also comes with various pinions to alter the gearing ratio.

The original release of this model was my first r/c car from tamiya

Thanks. I was trying for a really low shot in the first photo so as to create a sense of scale. It's one of my favorite shots. I also like the way the buggy blends in with the sand and grass.

Thanks. Tamiya's scale realism is really great.

I decided to paint this one blue as my original rough rider was painted orange.

Thanks for the complement. I also have a Rough Rider painted in Orange but I think the blue looks better. I can't remember what colour I painted it, it is however one of Tamiya's standard spray paint colours.
