Not that f-350 again

The active ingredient that removes the anodised finish is sodium hydroxide (caustic soda/lye). However it will also react quite vigorously with aluminium and its alloys - if you want to see what happens put a piece in a solution of caustic soda and watch it bubble away! So make sure you don't leave bits in the solution longer than necessary to get the anodised finish off and make sure you neutralise the surface afterward - rinse thoroughly in water or a quite rinse in vinegar then rinse thoroughly. Professional anodising removal is done with a mixture of phosphoric and chromic acids which won't attack the aluminium. Above all be careful - protect your hands and eyes and always rinse your hands thoroughly even if you wear gloves.
