It's all about the lettering Chris.....I really need to get my head around the size of the lettering on the old smoothies. I don't stand a chance on them. :-)

Thommo, its a new old stock body. The original one that came with the buggy just wasnt up to the standard I was after, although would be perfect for running the buggy (so I can preserve the new shell).

@CrashCramer....Take a look at the Boomerang to see what I mean. I had already picked out the HotShot stuff when that photo was taken. leaving only the Boomerang related gear, but you will get the idea.

@CrashCramer. Absolutely right. There were 3 bodies in the box provided, 1 went in the trash, the other 2 are sitting on top of my beer fridge at the moment as a reminder. This is running a new body and decals set.

@besty. ROFL the white lettering, if I get this drivetrain smooth enough to get it competitive for next weekend, I'll be running a set of 3 racing wheels and modern rubber....just to preserve my white lettering! :-)

That looks fantastic Morte, well done. I use those wheels as well on my vintage racers, I think they look awesome. I tend to cut off the standard rubber though and glue on some decent tyres. The standard tyres on the 3 racing wheels just don't give good grip (the rubber is too hard).

Chris, after seeing this in the flesh today, I can honestly say the photos don't really capture how good this build is. This is truly a stunning buggy and you should be very proud....love your work ;-)

I was watching this on ebay, and actually asked the seller if he would be interested in taking off the front brace and selling it separately to me, as I wanted one for my Super shot Vintage Racer. Obviously he said 'no', but luckily I found one (in black) stashed away in a box at my house anyhow :-)
I must admit, this sold for more than I expected, althought the alloy wheels are quite an expensive aftermarket option.
