Hi everybody, thanks for all your comments. I wanted to make something a bit different - i did have it painted as box art but after a few weeks got bored of it. i was looking at early 80s F1 paint schemes like the brabham but wasnt quite convinced, this is kind of inspired by a late 90s mclaren. The silver is enamel spray - its difficult to keep the finish if you mask over it so its best to leave it till last.
The wheels are aluminium rr wheels which i found on e bay in china (as are the shocks and the metal rear cage), and the front tyres are from a ss. The ride height change is from using (if i remember properly) 60mm on the rear and 70mm at the front. Some of the metal i polished like the front suspension arms, other bits like the engine cover are painted black with enamel paint (not sure how long these will look good for though).

Thanks for the comments everyone. the shocks i found on e bay and came from china. the exhausts were made by mike00top and are very nice. The polished front bumper and chassis plate both came from radshapeRC and are also very nice well made pieces.

Hi everyone, thanks again for the comments. the shocks were from a seller called howardhongkong who also runs the website www.rcracingmodel.com
a lot of the ideas and inspiration for this model came from tc and in particular the work of rad22rad and toykid who show what is possible

Updated paint job

Thanks everyone. I wasnt too sure how it would come out or how easy it would be. To answer some of the questions, the stockings were actually against the shell everywhere i painted. in places i had to use tape to hold it down because things like the wheel arches pulled them away from the body a bit. I think it took 3 - 4 coats and the difficult bit was being patient enough not to move things round between coats to see how it looked.

Spares build

thanks everyone for the comments. the double shocks are attached using some spare U shaped brackets from a lunchbox. I think they are part of the standard shocks. these were fitted on the front uprights and the rear cage, and the shocks are mounted from these with a longer bolt. I ll post some pictures so its more clear.
the wheels were from an ebay seller in hong kong
