Landcruiser scale crawler project... wip!
c_a_r_t_e_r

Thanks guys! Yes, it was getting dark outside, but I processed the exposure right down to give a more realistic twilight look - when some more weathering is done I'll post up some daylight pics!

Crawler playground... i mean back garden! ;-)
c_a_r_t_e_r

Thanks everyone for your great comments, I think the FJ came out pretty well - especially now it's officially dusty!

If only we had room for a proper track, I've got to squeeze enough patio and family lawn into 12m x 7m... although I'm still undecided about a rockery/crawler trail in the corner! ;-)

First built scorcher since 1983!

Wow, that green and white paint scheme is awesome! Love the detailing too - I couldn't bring myself to run it on anything other than a dry soft sandy beach, at very low speed!

Honda s800 bodyset - on m04-s chassis!
c_a_r_t_e_r

Cheers! Yes, this is one of the best M-chassis cars in my opinion - although the Alfa and Renault are pretty close. Converting the M04 to 210mm wheelbase is pretty simple, plus you get the benefit of RWD! :-) Front body mounts don't really line up though, but as i didn't want to make more holes in the body I glued some velcro to a slightly shaved front foam bumper - hooks very nicely behind the grill - rear body posts were perfect!

Honda s800 bodyset - on m04-s chassis!
c_a_r_t_e_r

Thanks everyone for their great comments, I'll add some chassis photos if I get time, but there's loads of great photos on the link Steffen found. That's the one I used, although I took all the length out of the chassis by removing the spacer and adjusting the front suspension arms - didn't touch the rear wheels at all.

Honda s800 bodyset - on m04-s chassis!
c_a_r_t_e_r

Oh, rear bodyposts are standard M04-L beetle, I've cut them down quite a lot. Definitely agree that this should never have been re-released on the M05 FWD chassis, but I'm not complaining too much as now the bodyset is available!

What brand is this?
thebicyclejungle

This is a Radio Shack/Tandy model I think. Someone posted a link to the Radio Shack catalogue archive recently, I looked it up as I used to have the other RC model from this year. Back in about 1980-something I had the choice of this model or the red car that only had forward and turn in reverse from a single button remote - I remember not liking the dual front wheels of this one so I chose the other model! Might even have it somewhere, it was packaged the same as yours with an outer sleeve.

Hornet (rere) : shadow edition
bad andy

Beautiful! I painted my rere Hornet in Metallic blue, but wish I'd thought to do it in transparent black. Is that PS smoke, or a thin layer of PS Black? Amazing job on the wheels too, chrome paint on the outer rim? Great work!

Fi's lr3 first run
japper7

Nice work! I have this exact same bodyshell lying around (well, still attached to the New Bright chassis...) that I'm waiting to mount on a suitable Tamiya - was it easy to change the wheelbase of the CC01? I think the LR3 shell is 290mm? Also, those are Peter's wheels and tyres aren't they? Have those on my FJ40!

Well used.... and why not
jeffy

I would definitely leave the body as it is! Those are retro genuine manufacturer's logos on there - a snapshot in time from the '80s. Tear off the peeling ones, paint the window rubbers black, add some clear windows (drivers side wound half down) and you're good to go! :-)

Competition entry
c_a_r_t_e_r

Thanks for all the great comments! I wish I'd smoked out the windows slightly now, but I think this is crying out for a scale interior.. if I can find anything suitable!

Beautiful! Brave choice to go away from the box-art blue, but red just looks fantastic!

TIMECMDR

Nice work! I have one of these too in box art, did the same as you with Kyosho tape for the body lines - really makes all the difference! Agree with def that these are crying out for a racing interior - any idea what might fit?

You're right! Very nice indeed. I have one of these half-finished with the body just painted in Ink Blue over silver, amazing polish job on the red!

Land rover lr3
mcovalsk

Hope things are looking up for you, sorry to hear your troubles. I have this body (well, the whole Rastar LR3 model) sitting on my shelf at the moment - I thought the finish was actually black plastic, didn't realise it was paint! Are you using 'raw' ethylic alcohol to strip it, or does this come in a household product? I was thinking of mounting mine on a TA-02 chassis.

Ahh urm i think i crashed into a snow bank!? ;o
Double_B

Looking good! The CR tuned 35T motor is a good match for the CC01 chassis I think, lots of torque and still a good turn of speed. Notice you have the same roof-rack fitted as mine, check out my showroom for adding the 3-racing light bar to the front of it, finishes it off nicely I think. If you find any more scale items that fit the rack then keep us posted! Tim.

Amazing work! Love the white... prefer it to the box art yellow that I did mine now... Doh! Quick question - where is the driver from? He looks around GT01 scale? Cheers! Tim

Mad-scorcher revisited
c_a_r_t_e_r

I had to delete the previous showroom entry to refresh all the photos and comments with the new body mods - it's a ball-raced Ansmann Mad Rat chassis underneath, with some custom body mounts to get the Kamtec lexan beetle shell on top. The colour scheme serves another purpose because the Kamtec shell doesn't come with any decals, so by making the top area black I didn't have to worry about painting in the window rubbers!

Mad-scorcher revisited
c_a_r_t_e_r

I agree - it could be a lot lower - I'll try that tonight. Previously I was trying to keep it high due to the full body arches, but now they're cut away I'm sure I can lower it some more. Good idea!

Mad-scorcher revisited
c_a_r_t_e_r

Good point! Too many of my models are precious shelf queens and too nice to run, I do need to try and break away from that and have a no-nonsense runner for a change!
