The Shell wasn't new, and showed no signs of use.

Finally finished !!! i took my time ...

She'll be driven in my house, on my carpet - This model is way-over powered (look at the rear-end photo, the whole backend is just motor). I'll be gentle ...

Paint used PS-30 (Brilliant Blue) - Although it's a polycarbonante paint it was the closest colour I could find - I took the 'headlight cover' decals with me to the model shop and 'hunted' for the closest match. Just ensure to rub the body down with fine grade paper, before priming and spraying. You'll be pleased with the end result !!!

Fully optioned - really moves ...

Once upgraded with a High Performance 540 motor & constant 4WD, they drive and handle very well on flat surfaces. The drive train is very strong and could probably take much more power/torque than standard 1/10 tamiya models. Don't under estimate these models, once upgraded !!!

My drafty workshop!
Olly_Lunchbox

I found the best way was to 'spread' the tamiya in every room, and then get her used to that. Then offer to clean things up, and keep it to just one room. This way, she is happy she isn't seeing it everywhere, and you finally get what you wanted anyway - I room or area for your Tamiya. I am trying to get the 'permission' to convert a sliding door wardrobe into a display area - Wish me Luck !!! I just gave her a 3rd child, so I think the timing to ask is near ...

Shannon's second build/first buggy
CPS996

That's a clever bit of photo-shopping !!! Woman and RC models never go together !!! (It's a bit like Husband & Wivies) hahaha !!!!

Tamiya quad bike
LamboDave

Thanks for your comments. I agree it works well. The fact that the lunchbox is a 1/12 scale model, works well with the smaller 'Toy Grade' models. The grommets inserted in the throttle channel give resistance when hit, but can still be pushed past this setting if pushed harder. I am glad you all like it !!! I've driven it with full power and agree this ATV doing wheelies looks so cool ...

Tgx running on twin 3-cell lipos (11.1v)
LamboDave

It's certainly running on the limits of it's design. Ignore the terminal-block connectors, as these were only used while setting things up - leads have since been cut shorter and soldered.

Excellent Job, Great Result - Do you have any tips of how best to 'tackle' this paint job ? I have a NIB Golf body set that has been waiting for me to get some courage!!!

Ez run 35 amp with 9t 4300rpm a volt motor
amigamad

These ESC are great - I have the 60AMP version running my Pumpkin, and it goes great. Control card makes set-up very easy. I'd recommend these ESC. I bought mine to replace a Mystery 100AMP ESC, as it just used 'beeps' to change things - All to hard.

Part of my collection.
Swarm

G'day mate - What the wife doesn't know doesn't hurt ... Like you, I have 20+ vintage NIBs my wife doesn't know about, stacked up in the garage still in their plain cardbox shipping boxes. I guess I need to inform her to 'auction' the stuff when am I gone. I think she'll be pleasently surprised in the end - My little golden handshake !!!

Tt6528 1/5 ducati 999r - w
pininy

I upgraded one of these with a Tamiya 23T SuperStock Motor. Goes really good, and now have to be careful as it has enough torque to now slip the rear end as I apply the power coming out of a corner. (Much more life-like). I just hate the way the standard 7.2v battery pack fits - it's a hassle to install. Might look at going brushless with 7.4 Lipo (will be a thinner, lighter battery). These are good fun. I'd like to be able to pull wheelies, but it hasn't the power to do that yet. Maybe 11.1v brushless set-up would do the trick ???
