Isn't this scheme in the 1979 Tamiya catalogue?

2010 sand scorcher

Nice SS. You can search the showrooms for 'direct steer' if yours doesn't have it already...

@Odyss - The first pictures are of the state it was in when I received it. The rest are of it as it's being refurbished. The liquid is brake fluid; you can check out my build thread in the forum for all the details...

@def4x4 - To be honest, the painting part is the bit that scares me most! I will just have to make sure that I use a paint that dissolves in caustic soda - then I can start again :)

Good grief. I thought I had a challenge on my hands, but this is in a different league. Best of luck, and I love those bikes!

I used caustic soda to strip mine; it's described in my build thread. Good luck

What a lovely box!

Sorry gozone - doesn't look like there's room in Vanessa's box for a Willy.

Like the asymmetrical paint job - I've been thinking about one for my Scorcher, and I think this might have swayed me - thanks :)

Cc01 fj40 and unimog adventure!
Skottoman
Great video. Great scale. Tumbles made me cringe. You've got to get some drivers; seeing these things roll past with nobody at the wheel is a bit freaky.

@mongoose1983 I used Einszett Gummi Pflege, but more for the looks than to repair damage - I also padded the rears with foam

Frankenscorcher: my runner (to be)

@SRB Bloke: LOL. Considering what you can do with bits of plastic pipe you find in you garage, I'm not surprised!

Why i need to stay away from tamiya sales

Nice haul, but now I have another web page I will have to visit religiously (Tamiya USA Sale Items). A Buggy Champ for £125? Argh!

That is fantastic, except for one small detail - all the lights are working :)

Srb manx body shaping up
Toykid
This looks very cool indeed. As a kid I wanted a 1:1 beach buggy as much as I wanted a Sand Scorcher. Now I'm thinking my Frankenscorcher SRB could bring the two together. The shorter wheelbase looks spot on, BTW.

Srb manx - first prototype

Possibly the most exciting project I've seen on TC! Can we have a shot of the chassis with the body off? Cheers.
