Basher blackfoot with lexan body and 4wd conversion
beefmuffin
thanks MAD-BEE! it's almost a joke that the same chassis with stock 4WD is sold with an ugly body shell as the dagger/detonator for about the same price. why not do all the blackfoot fans a solid and do the same for us? or at least include info on how to do it...tisk tisk tamiya...

My falcon project part 3
warlord62
well, i'm going half broke scooping up parts for my falcon. i have a TBG shell coming but i also managed to win the NIB body set. so i think i'll finish the TBG with repro decals and use that for running and the originals for shelf duty. i noticed in your first pics you had nice new tires on the rear. are these vintage, or is there some new stock alternative? having trouble finding rear tires and the R parts.

First tamiya i ever purchased {sold}
Mincemeat
i wish i still had my first R/C's...but that wouldn't have been possible! rocky divorce, etc. more or less didn't think about tamiya R/Cs till my son was born, and then my dad died soon after. so i've recently become a little obsessed with reliving some of the good times with my dad and wanting to be able to do the same with my son when he's a little older. that falcon looks - in the words of muno from yo gabba gabba - sizzlin'!

Hornet family tree
beefmuffin
yeah, there's a whole die-cast buggy collection of perfect little mini hornets and friends (so cute!)...i held off on getting it for now since i've been scouring the bay from vintage falcon and grasshopper 2 parts. ps- did you ever get the thriller night of zombie grasshoppers into the mail?

i gave in an ordered the diecast tamiya buggy collection. there aren't many left out there and i didn't want to regret not getting it. it's pretty sweet - here's a video review i found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1rHudzaZQ8

Max - thanks! I've got some Tshot tires almost in the bag. the front tires were in the same part bag with the wheels - that makes things easier...

SJ aka sunnyjai - here's another Falcon gearbox sprue NIP on the bay. same seller as mine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/TAMIYA-Original-parts-Falcon-58056-C-PARTS-TREE-X-9903-NOS-item-bagged-/200803947192?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ec0d912b8

good eyes chris - i was trying to fit a grasshopper 2 msc i picked up for that project but quickly realized the wires were too short. i have a stock MSC coming with another roller i picked up, so that should do it. unless you had a NIP one...since, i mean, who doesn't prefer a NIP version when it can be found?
ps- i'm working on my parts-built grasshopper 2 using the gears and axles you sent me. i also cobbled together a complete hornet out of the parts, but the gear boxes are a bit brittle so i'm going with some NIP B parts. was fun dissecting the 2 chassis and harvesting parts. also helped get a little more familiar with the small differences in the differential/axle setup btw the grasshopper, hornet, and grasshopper 2.

yeah - it's like on thanksgiving when someone is carving up the turkey. he looks like he slices it up like a pro. i on the other hand make botched clumps of mangled turkey meat. but i'm working on it! hopefully the result will be worthy of the effort. i also just emailed him to see if he'd sell me any of those grasshopper II parts that he pulled off those cars in favor of hornetizing them.
