Making an airfilter for my racing bug
the green beetle
That is some good thinking there. If you want to make a bigger one, you can use a plastic screwbottle's cap too. It has a ribbed patern and has the shape of a real air filter. Just add some bigger washers (o rings) and paint as you did and 'voila': a big one!

It's a shame they don't make the older 'Miller-Havens' kit anymore. The one with the exact scorcher rear deck lid. I found an old catalogue of 'M-H' with the originals. Watch my showroom. Grts.H.

So simple..., so beautifull !!!

For the rear deck I'm sure. There is no other brand that made these. Maybe repro's... . The front of the Scorcher is a straight fender, the ones of the MH kit are slightly cut upwards so I think Tamiya was inspired by a model which used different parts or designed a scale car with mixed inspiration.

An inspiration for tamiya developers?

Yes, he's the guy who bumped in 'Koen Wauters' ass at the Dakar rally. To repeat Gordon's words: 'if there's no rubbin', it ain't racing!' Here's the clip: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeZ-9Wpkjq4

I scaned them and inverted it, just like the 506. I printed it out on waterresistand decal sheet. Simple as that.

The front bumper makes it look like a real racecar from the '60's-'70's. Good choice to use it on this one. Great pic's!

Adding that text instead of making a new airbrush painting would have spared them lots of time and costs huh?

Yes, but you're right, smoothing the bonnet and interrior are very tricky. I dicided to leave them where they are because I don't have a 'dremel' in da house :-( , and sanding, cutting by hand....nèèè. Thanks for your comments and warings of do's and don'ts ;-).
