Thanks Guys! I'm kind of obsessed with black wheels, out of my 15 or so cars there's only a couple that haven't been swapped or painted. Crash, those pens are available at Amazon. I'll give them a go, thanks for the tip.

Thanks guys! Muddybaldboy, I built this with the 35t CR Tuned so I'm not sure how it would go on a faster motor, sorry! I'd imagine that it's probably geared lower than normal being a specific crawler chassis.

@Gosan, the paint markers are good but as they are enamel rather than acrylics you have to be careful as not so easy to clean up. It's a shame they don't do an X-18 Semi Gloss Black as a lot of models call for that colour. Fortunately the Scorcher uses plain old XF-1 Flat Black.


@Skottoman, good spot! I'd paid close attention when building the wheels but then put them on the wrong sides... Swapped over now :)

@Crash I think the deal was you get the item straight away then pay it off weekly (in those days by going to the bank each week with the cash!) You did pay dearly for the privilege though so although there was technically no interest the prices were inflated. I think the same deal outright from a hobby shop was about £150.

Thanks guys! I vaguely remember cutting out the body in 1990 with my mum's kitchen scissors but I have no recollection of doing the arches. I've just looked at the only photo I have of my old truck and I can see the cut lines of the arches are exactly the same as this body here. Mystery solved! I have some photos here of a Hi-Lux Monster Racer body set and that has pre cut arches. My Rock Socker which uses the old Stadium Blitzer body has them too. Not sure if the 1992 SB did.

@beefmuffin, I didn't want to duplicate the pic I've used for the comp entry so didn't add it, but I've now linked that pic from the 'If you liked these pictures' bit at the bottom. I'd thought of this idea a few weeks back and was pretty confident until I saw the Lego Hotshot had been entered. I can't compete with that in terms of build skills which I why I went to such effort with the photos and mag creation :)

@Crash, the Nissan fine print is on the last, square shot. The wood in the first pic was too dark to make it show up.

@Rosey, the headlights are Silver (PS-12) exactly as specified in the manual. In the third (closeup) pic it's hard to see but if you look at the last photo you can see they are darker than the white side lights next to them.

@Crash Cramer, they are 0444363. Offset is not stated but I measured them and they are +2mm. You'll need something wider or with a higher offset for a TA02W I would think. The real wheels these are based on is the Speedline Corse 2121.

Thanks all! @Jim_GT-R I'd like to do an Evo V or VI but I can't find the parts - Evo V bodies are available but no stickers, Evo VI stickers are available but no bodies. @Pingman, they are just the standard TT-02R kit dampers.

@Racecrafters - I cut this tape myself, it's 0.6mm and the Kyosho is 0.4 so will try thinner next time. @pininy - the wheels and tyres are the Tamiya kit originals painted black. @Pinpoint - the vinyl is Ri-Mark Series L&M, self adhesive yes.

Thanks guys! @Crash Cramer - the wheel nuts aren't Tamiya, they are just regular M4 hex half nuts from a hardware supplier. @AndyjcClod - I don't actually have a lightbox, this is a just a very large piece of paper! I'll post a photo of the setup sometime.

Thanks guys! @Jim, yes I'm not a fan of how it's not as white as it should be. I've got the Corolla, don't like the 206 (but have the 306) and I'm looking for an Evo V or VI. @salvine eBay as usual! @mark_biddle Great idea! I recently watch a documentary about BMW Touring Cars called 'Adrenalin' which motivated me to bump this up the build queue. Highly recommended.
