Thanks a lot! Yes, I cut them In half and removed material from the middle. Luckily I have access to a lathe which makes the job much more accurate. I also machined and inserted a sleeve over the two halves, which helped when gluing the two halves together. It’s strong enough to run like this.

Thanks a lot! Yes the main reason for making my own wheels was help further narrow the axle width. All of the aftermarket wheels I tried just stuck out too far on the already wide bruiser axles.

Thanks for the nice comments! Yes, I'm happy to share ideas, please copy! I find it much easier to mount the wheel arches on the chassis as opposed to the body. Just for info, the metal plate with the two foam pads under the front body mount is to stabilize the body and stop it wobbling when running. It works a treat.

Thanks for the nice comments! I narrowed the axle a couple of years ago and I wish I'd documented it better... But I found a couple of pictures which I've added. As you can see I cut the axle just after the screws, then made and fitted new bearing holders to take 12mm hex hubs. The axle shaft was also shortened and re-threaded and drilled to accept the pin. Luckily I have access to a lathe, otherwise it wouldn't have been possible. I did the same mod with my other truck, but kept the hub carriers for the standard large wheels and tires (also in my showroom)

Thanks a lot! I believe the plastics used on the re-re’s are superior and more modern to the materials on the original, but I don’t have any evidence to back this up. The only thing I’ve broken is the front carbon shock tower, which is very weak and will break with the first roll. So I made a new beefier one. I was a bit nervous dropping a 10.5 motor in, but the gears and ball diffs are holding up just fine!

Thanks! I also owned an 88’ V8!! Lots of fun to own and drive, but eventually the fuel consumption was painful as a daily driver, so I swapped it for a 2 1/4 diesel… I do believe Boom Racing do an 88’ too, check it out!

Thanks for the positive comments! The color is PS 19 camel yellow. I would have painted the roof white, had I remembered to order the paint... But I'm quite happy with how it turned out. And yes I agree, not enough of these are getting driven. So come on all you BBX owners, get out and enjoy some driving!!
