@ruebiracer, thanks! Glad you got the idea with the wheels. I’m always drawn to hybrid / mule vehicles where one set of ideas evolve towards the next, but often with practical call backs to the existing tech. The wheels do exactly that, but also have a cool mid eighties vibe that suits the Avante really well.11-Aug-2019

@neobrunox : Yeah your Azente got my brain turning on this project! Cool work on that one. I agree that Mini 4wd provide a rich archive of possibilities. Dress up sticker existed for dozens of models that have RC cousins (Egress, Astute, Dash 1 Emperor, Terra Scorcher etc) and then there are dedicated Mini 4wd special editions like the Azente and Zenquish, and special edition sticker sets for things like the J Cup. Crying out for a tasty RC upscales from any of those sources.

Love it, and great wheels. Might be blasphemy, but I never liked the look of the standard egress/vanquish/Avante lightweights wheels. Your choice give it a much more sophisticated look. Great work!24-Sep-2019

A thunder dragon already

I have such fond memories of Mini 4WD as a kid, and still collect them today. When I was maybe 10 years old I took a trip to Harrods in London, to visit their amazing toy department. In a glass display case in the model section was a Thunder Dragon with a polycarbonate body. This was like finding gold for me … although the supply of Mini 4wds in the late 80s in the UK was pretty good, tune-up parts were few and far between. I'd only seen the clear bodies in the Tamiya manuals and Mini 4wd guidebooks. But … None on the shelf! So I remember summoning up the courage to ask a shop assistant if they would consider selling me the one in the case … the answer was no and I left feeling sad :-(
With the birth of the internet and the emergence of an income I snapped up a TD body set in later life. But I often think back to 'the one that got away' at Harrods!
So enjoy yours… especially with the cool matching wheels and tyres!

Always good to see some Dash Your love! And the hotshot wheels of course mirror the Mini 4wd edition. Are the decals TBG too? They look good.I guess you cut the body at the front for a shock tower? Good to have some options for the next upgrade :-)
